it seems that it is a difficult for wordfast 5.5 to deal with InDesign files. So can wordfast 6.0 deal with InDesign files? And how to do it?

I routinely handle InDesign tag files in WF5 Feb 9, 2009

All you need is this:

1) Copy the tw4winInternal & tw4winExternal styles from a previous document into the tag file (which is text-only). The easiest thing is to just paste a paragraph containing them (later delete it).

2) Do these global replacements with wildcards enabled to change their styles:

a) Find: \<[pP]*\>
(In case symbols dont show above: backslash, less than, [pP]*, backslash, greater than)
Replace: tw4winExternal

Replace: tw4winInternal

This will straighten up most of the stuff. Anything that remains, you can apply Marching Red Ants as you go, so WF will ignore it.

Save the document in .doc format and apply Open Space to all paragraphs, to further clear it up. Bear in mind that InDesign codes are extremely wordy.

Whaaat? Feb 12, 2009

The next update will come in April?
That's outrageous! Why did you rush the release then? You delivered a faulty, half-baked product only to generate some urgent income for your company?
That is too bad.

From what I read in all the other posts, the answer to your question seems to be pretty obvious: to rip the most impatient translators off their money. I hope you are not the unfortunate one.

The rule of thumb says: never buy a new car model unless it's been on the market for at least one year. And the same goes for software. If I'd bought WF Pro, I'd want my money back now.

What do you mean by "apply open space"?

Your workflow applies to .inx files, right?

(just trying to understand, maybe I'll be brave enough to attempt it the next time any InDesign files come my way)

By "Open Space" I meant "Space Before" Feb 21, 2009

Sorry for the wrong terminology. Adding a 12 pt Space Before to all paragraphs will make things look a bit clearer and easier to follow, as paragraphs will no longer bunch together.

The above replacements are only for InDesign Tagget Text files, i.e., those whose character attributes start with "<c" (like <cFont:AdobeGaramond> or <cSize:18> ) and whose paragraph attributes start with "<p" (like <pBodyAlignment:Center> ).
