An experienced Persian translator holding a Ph.D. degree in Language and Linguistics (Corpus-bases Translation Studies) from the UK and an M.Sc. degree in General Linguistics from Iran, I have already worked in public relations affairs for more than six years, in the position of director and editor-in-chief of a well-known literary quarterly inside Iran for more than four years, and also as an Industrial Engineer in the fields of planning and management for several years.
Public Relations Senior Officer:
I have been intensely engaged in translation while working in this position, from translating articles in the fields of management and industrial psychology, to compiling texts of various technical and managerial domains as part of a service to other departments. We were also publishing a monthly internal bulletin, for which I was taking total responsibility in translating relevant materials as well as revising translations by others, in addition to proofreading and editing affairs. During these years I translated numerous catalogs, manuals, work instructions, in-serving training handouts, etc. from English to Farsi (Persian) and vice versa.
Equipment Maintenance Jr Supervisor:
In this position, I was supervising a team of experts in various maintenance areas. All manuals and maintenance instructions for new or modified equipment were translated either by myself or under my guidance in a technical team of engineers, all have been published internally, cataloged and archived for future use.
Director and Editor-in-chief:
The role of directing a quarterly literary magazine requires in its nature to be totally involved in translation critics and also close liaison with professional translators who had submitted a piece of work to be published, including articles in literary theory, short stories, poems, etc. This picture provides only part of my responsibilities for bringing several issues of a successful periodical out of print, the rest being supervising the activities of proofreading and editing.
Language Learning Consultant:
In an institute established for foreign language training, my consultatory role was essentially focused on the fields of improving the quality of language learning classes and also preparation of some beneficial bi-lingual handouts for students in elementary levels of language proficiency.
With respect to my background in theory and practice of translation, I am now totally prepared to consider any offer of translation work in my fields of Speciality, Working and even Interest (to be discussed in the latter case), each case being individually assessed according to the rate of translation to be offered - although a glance at my default target rates prior to getting into negotiation could be no doubt of benefit.
