Az értekezés a magyarországi arisztokrácia neveltetését vizsgálja az 1790-1848-ig terjedő időszakban. Mivel ennek az európai mércével mérve is igen magasan kvalifikált társadalmi rétegnek a haladó gondolkodású tagjai főként a reformkortól kezdődően jelentős szerepet vállaltak a kultúra és a művelődés ügyének felkarolásában, kíváncsiak voltunk, milyen neveltetési sajátosságok alapozták meg műveltségüket. Választ kerestünk arra a kérdésre, milyen tendenciák érvényesültek a házi neveltetés különböző irányaiban, valamint hogyan reagált a magánnevelés a 19. század első felének politikai, társadalmi és szellemi kihívásaira, változására.
Dolgozatunk hat nagyobb tematikai egységre különül. Az első rész a kutatás kérdéseit, módszereit, előzményeit és a forrásokat mutatja be. A második fejezet társadalmi kontextusba helyezi a főrangúak csoportját a rendi társadalom struktúrájában, majd ismerteti a főrendi réteg kialakulásának állomásait, definiálja az arisztokrácia társadalmi rétegét és kísérletet tesz klasszifikálására. A harmadik fejezet az Elbától nyugatra eső területek arisztokráciájának neveltetési sajátosságait vizsgálja először a német arisztokrata férfiak, majd hölgyek esetében. Rámutat a 18-19. század fordulóján a neveltetés rendszerében végbement változásokra és annak okaira.
Translation - English Summary
The dissertation examines the education of the Hungarian aristocracy in the period ranging from 1790 to 1848. Since the progressive members of this highly qualified social layer played an important role in supporting the cause of culture and education especially from the reform period, we were wondering what kind of specific educational features established their erudition. We were trying to find the answer to the question what tendencies were effective in the different courses of home upbringing, and also how private education reacted to the political, social and intellectual challenges and changes of the first half of the 19th century.
Our essay is divided into six bigger units. The first one presents the questions, methods, antecedents and sources of the study. The second chapter places the group of aristocrats in the structure of the feudal society into a social context, then it outlines the stages in the formation of the aristocratic layer, defines the social layer of the aristocracy and makes an attempt to classify it. The third chapter examines the educational characteristics of the aristocracy living in the areas west of the Elbe, first in the case of German aristocratic men, then in the case of women. It points out the changes taking place in the system of education at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, and also their causes.
