For the past seven years, first in the course of my graduate studies of English and Russian, followed by the position of teaching assistant at the Russian department and finally as a full-time freelance translator, I have been perfecting my translation skills in a wide range of fields. Although my primary interest had been literary translation, I have also had the opportunity to translate a substantial corpus of texts from the tourist and technical fields. The latter implied mastering and using several CAT tools on a daily basis.
Apart from this practical translation background, my tasks and obligations as a teaching assistant at the Russian Department at the University of Zadar included organizing a course in specialized translation from Russian into Croatian for graduate students from 2011 to 2015. Within the course I strove to give the participants first insights into the translation profession, as well as to select appropriate texts for translation which I later proofread and discussed together with the students. In order to stay up-to-date in current translation theory and technology issues I have also attended numerous international conferences specialized in translation studies.
All of the above mentioned experience has given me an in-depth understanding of the translation industry which I will be happy to further deepen in collaboration with my future clients.
