Bio
I was born to career officer Army parents at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia and moved back and forth between Brazil and the U.S. for most of my childhood. As an adult, I lived in Brazil for 20 years working as a full-time translator/interpreter for British Petroleum (BP Oil), National Cash Register (NCR) and the U.S. Department of Defense, Military Liaison Office at the American Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Having lived, studied and worked in both countries gives me an advantage when translating because I am very much "in tune" with the regional slang, cultural nuances and current events of both countries.

It is impossible to tell which is my "native" language as I learned them both simultaneously by living in Brazil while attending American Schools in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia.

I attended college in North Carolina and also in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My degree is in Education and I have worked as an in-house translator most of my life. My husband and two children are Brazilian and while we live in the U.S., Portuguese is the language spoken in our home.

I am a member of the Carolina Association of Translators and Interpreters (CATI) as well as of the American Translators Association (ATA).

I am a notary public and have an active Security Clearance, enabling me to handle classified translations.
