Dilungo. Tutto, per me, è viaggio di ritorno. In mansione
qualunque, no; quello che ho fino ad oggi avuto, ciò di cui, per così dire, m’ intendo e piace, è d’esser guida di cieco: sforzo destino che m’aggrada.
E mi lascerete andare? Da quando il mio cieco Signor Tomê se n’è andato, mi vessano, mi strattonano, sospettano discorrendo. Terra d’ingiustizie.
Qui sostammo, mesi, a causa della donna, per conto del defunto. Allora, che arrestino la donna, le diano una torchiata, il marito ruffiano, così che questi spieghino per filo e per segno anche ciò che non è mai successo. La donna, terribile. Ispettore trattenga l’anima del mio Signor Tomê cieco, se ne è capace! Lui amoreggiava occulto con la donna, Sa Giusta, di questo qualcuno ebbe sentore? Io provvedevo e governavo.
Non mi fisso di come fu che si precipitò nel burrone, che rese l’anima. Decido? Riconosco: che le cose cominciano per davvero là dietro, di quel che c’è, ricorso; quando rifinite succedono, già sono scomparse. Sospiri. Dichiaro, ora, definisco. Vossia non m’ha chiesto nulla. Do risposta solo a ciò che nessuno mi chiese.
Le donne, pazze di lui, come un Gesù, per averci la barba. Ma lui mi chiedeva, prima. ─ “È bella?”. Io informavo che sempre. Per me ogni donna vive bella: le rosse, le more, le bianche, nelle strade. Lui gli piaceva ─ un cieco completo ─ per non poter neanche tradire le loro forme né i loro tratti? Signor Tomê s’insuperbiva, lavava con sapone il corpo, chiedeva vestiti in carità. Io bevevo.
Deambulavamo, da luogo a luogo, senza prevenire che già si stava nel venir fin quì. Ho colpe ricoperte. Noi per strada, tirando un cieco, centriamo che manco stessimo navigando ─ contrariamente a tutti.
Mio padrone, no. Io reggevo ─ lui accompagnava: pigliando tutti in punta di bordone, cavo con l’imbottitura in piombo. Bevo, per imporre in me amori degli altri? Ragliavano, che, passata già l’età di guidare ciechi, di buona lena, lo stesso io, così, imbotulito, ingobbito, testone. Il popolo le sa le scortesie. Allora, per anch’io non vedere, ho da ricordar l’altrui? Bevo. Trinco fino a dormire, vedo altre cose. Lui c’aveva da aspettare, mentre finivo di ubriacarmi, sdraiato. Mi dava consigli. Cieco supplica di vedere ancor più di chi vede.
C’aveva invidia di me: non vedeva che ero difettoso brutto. Pieno d’odio, perché solo io potevo vedere quelle intere donne, cui lui piaceva! Condurre un cieco è come trascinare un condannato, di nessun potere, ma che indovina più di noi? Amici. Il rovinato davvero può ridere solo del cencioso. Mi veniva voglia di leggero salirgli in groppa, senza freno, senza sperone...
E qui siam giunti, per l’appunto. La donna vide il cieco, a mo’ di non mi dire, con tutta la forza in serbo. Questa era la diversa, molto ordinaria: brutta, brutta alla faccia di Dio onnipotente. Ma bramava, fatale. S’inginocchiò per chiedermelo, perché al mio Signor Cieco mentissi. Procedetti. ─ “Questa è bella, la migliore!”─ gli affermai, parola mia. Il cieco lisciò la barba. Lui passeggiò la mano sulle sue braccia, ardimento di costumi. Soffiò caldo come l’occhio d’un tizzone. Non ebbi alcun rimorso. Ma i due respiravano, piansero, mielosi, dignitosi.
S’incontravano, ogni notte, io preparando in anticipo per loro il campo, il modo e il comodo, e me ne stavo da lontano, occupandomene. Il marito la schifava, uomo sdrucciolo, di stramberie, manco veniva a casa. Qualcuno malignò? Cieco nasconde più di chiunque altro, qualunque bazza. E chi sta di guardia, come me? Lei mi dava cachaça, cibarie. Lui mi anticipava il giorno di festa. Mi viziavano. E che poteva durare, così, a buona pesa?
La vita non se ne sta quieta. Finché lui non se ne cade nel buio, nella scarpata, mortale. Veniva da in-le-delizie. La donna qui persiste ─ per miagolare ai cani ed abbaiare ai gatti. Che centro io con il caso... Tutti si piccano di chiamarmi ladrone. Cieco non è chi muore?
Tutti avendo bisogno di me, negli intervalli. La donna, matta, insistendo che a lui riproducessi le sue a venire bellezze. Il Signor Tomê, da questi nostri solitari non avversi discorsi traendo gelosia, con polemiche, malumori. Ma io riportavo falseggiato leale: che gli occhi di lei lasciavam brillori, un carato dei denti, quelle faville, il sommo colore delle guancie. Signor Tomê, in barba di truce, sorbiva il diletto di descrivermi che l’è l’amore, lui non disamorava. Ch’è cieco solo chi non deve vedere? Ma il marito, immorale, questo con me beveva, voleva con la mia complicità prendere i soldi nella saccoccia... Io ubriaco e mingherlino, nano, c’ho da emendare la pazzia, la cecità di tutti?
Lascino pure ─ ed io deducevo e combinavo. Ma nessuno aspetta la speranza.Vanno fino in fondo al lumicino, a più non posso, all’impazzata. Al più, urgo; m’intenda. Qui, che lui si disastrò, gli altri carcano di speculare ed affrontarmi, che mi ci imbatto, da chiusa a principio, senza fiume né ponte.
Giorno che diede mala notte. Lui s’errò, sul bordo del precipizio, cadendo e nero pesto morendosene. Non può esser stata solo malasorte, sfiga? Di solitario andar braveggiando, ingelosito, bue buffando, se ne scivolò... e, così, rotto insanguinato, terribile, della terra.
O il marito, in fregola per uccidere e rubare ─ ha spinto quell’altro giù nel burrone ─ di suo proposito? Cieco corre maggior pericolo in notti di luna piena...
E Signor Tomê, verso il finale, variava: dicendo che cominciava di nuovo a vedere! Deliri, di passione, brama, per volere, troppo, avvistare la donna ─ i tratti ─ quella bellezza che noi tre, nel disabbrutto, noi s’era tanto inventato. Intravvedendo che lei era reale di figura cattiva, non può lui, dolente deluso, essersi davvero
suicidato, nel precipizio? Il peggior cieco è quello che vuol vedere... Morto stecchito.
O lei, vedesse che lui stava per vedere, c’aveva da quanto prima voler distruggere quello spavento, spingere il tale, precipiziosa ─ il visionabile! Carattere di donna è semi e bucce. Lei, nell’ultimamente, già se ne tremava, di pavori d’amore, le volte che lui, palpatore, con forti ansie, maneggiava la sua faccia, auditivo, tutto dita. Aria che accade...
Se in quell’ora me ne stavo ubriaco, bevuto, quando precipitò, cos’è che ne so? Non mi intendano! Dio vede. Dio intontisce e uccide. Quello che noi s’aspetta è ciò che resta della vita.
La donna dice che m’accusa del crimine, senza diventazione rossa, se con lei non sono audace... Il marito, terribile, piagnone, dice che l’amante ero io... Terribili, gli altri, mi minacciano, fino alle ingiurie... Vossia non dice nulla. Ce l’ho e non ce l’ho il diavolo, sa? Mi arrestino! Mi rilascino! La donna sia quasi gravida. Mi chiamo Prudenzignano. Ora il cieco non vede più... La colpa ricade sempre sul guidatore?
Solo se c’ho ancora altre cose, da venire, continuate da ricominciare; allora Dio non è mondiale? Temo che son io quello terribile.

OIL WELLS DRILLING
The new well completion design incorporates two new technologies; external isolation swell packers, and SAS with inflow control devices (ICDs) (which were not proven or available when screening the original completion designs). The new completion design for Chayvo wells positions SAS across the weaker, more permeable formation to provide a sand free completion. These SAS incorporate ICDS (or chokes) to reduce flow from the high permeability formations which could produce gas or water if allowed to produce unrestricted. The high permeability intervals are isolated from the low permeability intervals with swell packers. The higher strength, low permeability intervals are completed with predrilled liner. Swell packers replaced cement for zonal isolation and ICDS replaced selective perforating to control flow from zones of high permeability. The key to successful zonal isolation was positioning swell packers and screens precisely across the high permeability zones. Not getting the screens in the correct position would allow the high perm zones to flow unrestricted and cause the wells to water or gas out prematurely.
During the SERVICES and for a period ending six years after completion or termination of the CONTRACT, COMPANY or its duly authorized representative shall have the right to audit at all reasonable times and, upon request, take copies of all of CONTRACTOR’s records (including data stored on computers), books, personnel records, accounts, correspondence, memoranda, receipts, vouchers and other papers of every kind relating to:
(a) all invoiced charges made by CONTRACTOR on COMPANY, and

O novo projeto de completamento para os poços em Chayvo coloca SAS ao longo da mais fraca, mais permeável formação para prover um completamento livre de areia. Estes SAS incorporam ICDS ( ou estranguladores) para reduzir o fluxo das formações de alta permeabilidade que poderiam produzir gas ou agua se permitidas de produzir irrestritamente. Os intervalos de alta permeabilidade são isolados dàqueles de baixa permeabilidade com revestimentos expansíveis. Os intervalos de maior força e menor permeabilidade são completados com dutos pre-perfurados. Revestimentos expansíveis substituiram o cimento para vedação zonal e ICDS substituiu perfuração seletiva para controlar o fluxo das zonas de alta permeabilidade. A chave para uma vedação zonal bem sucedida foi o posicionamento de revestimentos expansíveis e paineis exatamente ao longo das zonas de alta permeabilidade. Não colocar os paineis na posição correta permitiria às zonas de alta permeabilidade de fluirem irrestritamente determinando a saida prematura de agua o gas dos poços.
Durante os SERVIÇOS e ao longo de um periodo que terminará seis anos após o completamento ou o término do CONTRATO, a EMPRESA ou seus representantes devidamente autorizados serão autorizados a fiscalizar em cada possivel momento e, sob pedido, tirar cópias de todos os registros do CONTRAENTE (incluindo dados arquivados nos computadores), livros, registros do pessoal, contas, correspondência, memoranda, recibos, voucher e outros papéis de qualquer tipo relacionados com:
(a) Todas as cobranças faturadas feitas pelo
CONTRAENTE à EMPRESA e,

A NEW TOP CONNECTION SYSTEM FOR STEEL CATENARY RISERS
ABSTRACT
A Petrobras tem realizado diversos estudos para verificar a viabilidade estrutural de SCRs conectados a unidades de produção do tipo FPSOs, plataformas semi-submersíveis e plataformas monocolunas. The results obtained from these studies indicate that due to the great stresses developed at the top region as a consequence of the platform rotation movements, SCR’s top connections are usually made by means of robust stress joints or flex joints. These components can add high costs to any project, especially in cases where titanium is required. To try to avoid these costs, the objective of this work is to present a new top connection system called suspender. This system is composed by the SCR, a mooring line segment, a flexible jumper and a “Y” connector, and has the advantage of reducing the transmission of flexional stresses from the platform to the SCR.
The performance of this alternative was compared to a more conventional one, composed by a SCR and a flex joint, and the obtained results indicate the reduction of maximum stresses at the top region without changing the SCR behavior at the TDZ, and the possibility of extending the fatigue life by changing the SCR configuration.
INTRODUCTION
Uma das grandes dificuldades de se projetar SCRs para unidades flutuantes do tipo plataformas semi-submersíveis, monocolunas e FPSOs é o elevado nível de esforços atuantes observados na região do topo do SCR, decorrentes dos movimentos rotacionais, conduzindo a níveis de tensão superiores aos admissíveis.
O sistema proposto, que é denominado de suspensório, se caracteriza por não transmitir tais efeitos ao SCR, e é constituído por 4 componentes estruturais: 1 cabo de sustentação (amarras), um Y metálico, um jumper de riser flexível e o riser rígido de aço. O SCR e a linha flexível encontram-se conectados ao Y metálico, sendo que o peso de todo o conjunto é suportado pela plataforma através do cabo de sustentação; o transporte do óleo do riser rígido para a plataforma é feito através da linha flexível. Assim, este sistema reduz significativamente a transmissão de momentos para o riser rígido, eliminando a necessidade de flexjoint ou stressjoints. Outra vantagem que o sistema proposto apresenta é a possibilidade de se variar a profundidade do Y metálico durante a vida operacional da plataforma, recolhendo ou pagando amarra e linha flexível, de forma a distribuir o dano estrutural devido a fadiga ao longo do TDZ do SCR (touch down zone).
A viabilidade do sistema proposto foi investigada no seguinte cenário:
Plataforma semi-submersível numa lâmina d’água de 600m e SCR com 8.625in [1]
Resultados satisfatórios já tinham sido obtidos em projeto prévio desenvolvido pela PETROBRAS em conjunto com a COPPE/UFRJ no seguinte cenário:
Plataforma semi-submersível numa lâmina d’água de 800m e SCR com 6.625in [2]
Plataforma monocoluna locada no Golfo do México numa lâmina d”água de 2500m e SCR com 8.625in [3];
Foram realizadas análises de extremos considerando casos operacionais, extremos e acidentais para a obtenção de parâmetros máximos de resposta para os diferentes elementos do sistema proposto. Nesta etapa, também foram obtidos os esforços máximos no ponto de interligação do SCR com a linha flexível de forma a permitir o pré-dimensionamento e detalhamento do mecanismo de suporte denominado de “Y”. Foi investigada a utilização do mecanismo de ligação disposto em forma de Y para cima e Y para baixo. Esta avaliação também se deu através de análise de fadiga preliminar do SCR.
Alguns resultados obtidos pelo sistema proposto foram comparados com aqueles obtidos para o sistema convencional constituído por SCR e flexjoint, tanto no que diz respeito aos níveis máximos de tensões quanto aos valores do dano estrutural determinado pelas análises de fadiga.
DESCRIÇÃO DO SISTEMA ANALISADO
O sistema possui 4 componentes estruturais: 1 cabo de sustentação (amarras), um Y metálico, um jumper de riser flexível e o riser rígido de aço, conforme mostrado na figura 1.
A viabilidade do sistema proposto foi investigada no seguinte cenário:
o SCR 8.625in com espessura de 0.5in;
o Linha flexívei de 6” FLEX 203.50012;

Foram investigadas diversas configurações do sistema de forma a verificar como os parâmetros de resposta de cada elemento do sistema são afetados:
1) SCR: as tensões de von Mises no TDP;
2) Tração na amarra e na linha flexível;
3) Tensões no conector Y;
Na figura 2 são ilustradas três configurações que são denominadas de “ modelos A “ , que se caracterizam pelas linhas flexíveis possuírem um ângulo de topo de 6 graus na conexão com a plataforma. Na figura 3 são ilustradas outras três configurações denominadas de “modelos B” que foram definidas de forma que o ângulo de chegada da linha flexível na conexão com o “Y” fosse perpendicular ao SCR. Desta forma, nos modelos “B” , são empregados os dispositivos de forma de “T”. As figuras 4 e 5 ilustram a geometria dos dispositivos de interligação SCR-linha flexível empregados nos modelos A e B citados.

PHASE I – DYNAMICS ANALYSIS PERFORMED
Para a avaliação do comportamento global do sistema com obtenção dos parâmetros de respostas, foram realizadas análises dinâmicas no domínio do tempo através do programa ANFLEX [4] de propriedade da PETROBRAS. Na análises consideraram carregamentos anuais, decenários e centenários caracterizando os casos de carregamentos operacionais, extremos e acidentais, respectivamente.
A figura 6 mostra a envoltória da tensão de von Mises no SCR das configurações que empregam o dispositivo de ligação em forma de T (modelos B) bem como as tensões obtidas no SCR do sistema convencional que emprega um flexjoint no topo. Verifica-se que o sistema proposto apresenta o mesmo nível de tensão no TDP quando comparado com o SCR convencional.

A figura 7 mostra os resultados em termos da razão da máxima tensão de von Mises atuante no TDP pela tensão admissível do caso de carregamento considerado. Os mesmos resultados foram obtidos para o topo do SCR e apresentados na figura 8. Verifica-se que as diferentes configurações apresentam um comportamento estrutural semelhante.

As figuras 7 e 8 mostram as máximas trações obtidas no topo do riser flexível e da amarra, onde verificamos que o sistema se comporta de forma semelhante nas diversas configurações avaliadas.

Foram realizadas análise de fadiga considerando 22 estados de mar. A fadiga foi avaliada exclusivamente na região constituída de riser rígidos. Foram realizadas análises dinâmicas aleatórias no domínio do tempo através do programa ANFLEX. O dano estrutural foi calculado através do programa POSFAL [5] empregando o método de contagem de ciclos de rainflow e a curva SN D da DNV. As figuras 11 e 12 mostram os resultados obtidos na região do TDP dos risers, onde verificamos que os sistemas se comportam de forma quase idêntica em relação à fadiga. Observa-se que o modelo analisado é aquele que emprega o dispositivo de ligação em forma de “T”. Logo podemos considerar que cada um dos sistemas representa, na realidade, uma fase durante a vida de operação da plataforma, cujo dano total sofrido pelo SCR é a soma de 1/3 dos danos em casa um dos estágios (Y com profundidades de 50m, 100m e 150m).

PHASE II – LOCAL STRESS ANALYSIS PERFORMED
A análise estrutural do elemento de conexão Y foi feita mediante modelo de elementos finitos isolado (Y + parte do tubo). A análise foi realizada considerando-se ou não a simultaneidade dos esforços extraídos das análises globais e que são utilizados como cargas atuantes nas análises locais da conexão Y. Foram realizadas análises dos suportes referentes às configurações mostradas nas figuras 3 e 5, posicionados nas profundidades de 50m, 100m e 150m.
O modelo de elementos finitos também contemplou um trecho de SCR de 5 metros, com o intuito de evitar possíveis efeitos de bordo na região do “Y” propriamente dito. Os elementos finitos utilizados na construção da malha foram o SOLID185 (sólido isoparamétrico com 8 nós e três graus de liberdade por nó: translações nas direções X, Y e Z).
Para evitar hipoestaticidade, aplicam-se diretamente as cargas impostas pela amarra e pela linha flexível e engasta-se a extremidade inferior do SCR. As trações impostas pela linha flexível e pela amarra são distribuídas uniformemente sobre a superfície de ligação dos respectivos flanges. O momento fletor imposto pela linha flexível é aplicado a um nó situado no eixo central do “Y” no plano do flange de conexão. Esse nó é ligado ao flange por um contact pair e, através de equações de restrição, é conectado rigidamente às áreas situadas no plano de contato do flange.
A figura 13 ilustra as condições de contorno aplicadas, bem como a forma de aplicação das cargas nos modelos Y positivo e negativo respectivamente. A figura 14 mostra as dimensões da peça analisaa.

As figuras 15 e 16 mostram os resultados das tensões no conector obtidas para as cargas centenárias considerando as profundidades de 100m e 150m. Verifica-se que os resultados são bastante próximos, evidenciando mais uma vez que as configurações se comportam de forma semelhante. Estes resultados foram obtidos a partir da aplicação dos máximos esforços obtidos pelas análises globais sem levar em consideração a simultaneidade da atuação dos mesmos.
Para verificar a validação do procedimento empregado entre a análise global e local, foi realizada uma análise de verificação considerando a simultaneidade dos esforços obtidos pelas análises globais aplicados na análise locais do conector Y. A figura 17 mostra uma comparação entre os resultados obtidos no topo do SCR através das análises locais e globais, onde verifica-se uma grande concordância entre os resultados.

CONCLUSIONS
Neste trabalho, foi investigado um novo sistema de conexão de topo para SCRs que elimina a utilização de dispositivos especiais do tipo flexjoint e stressjoint. A comparação entre o SCR convencional e o sistema com dispositivo Y tem apenas como objetivo salientar a vantagem do sistema proposto no que diz respeito à eliminação de um ponto crítico no dimensionamento de SCR convencional, que é o dimensionamento da flexjoint ou stressjoint capaz de absorver os esforços flexionais impostos sem transmiti-los para o topo do SCR.
Os resultados obtidos das análises preliminares mostraram que o sistema proposto mantem os níveis de tensão no topo do SCR abaixo dos valores admissíveis. O comportamento do SCR do sistema proposto na região do TDP se mostrou bastante similar ao do SCR do sistema convencional, tanto no que diz respeito aos níveis de tensão quanto ao valor do dano estrutural. Este fato é importante à medida que o projeto do SCR com o sistema proposto não traz uma preocupação adicional no que diz respeito à integridade estrutural do riser na região do TDP.
Quanto às análises de fadiga, verificamos que os resultados são preocupantes, contudo previstos, confirmando a dificuldade de viabilizar SCRs free hanging para plataformas semi-submersíveis. Entretanto, as análises realizadas mostraram uma potencialidade importante do sistema neste aspecto. O re-posicionamento do dispositivo Y e conseqüentemente do TDP pela variação do comprimento da amarra de topo (estágios) permite uma redução do dano estrutural no TDP proporcional ao número de estágios adotado ao longo de sua vida operacional.
As análises locais de dimensionamento das peças Y de ligação mostraram que as tensões de Von Mises encontram-se abaixo das tensões admissíveis para os casos de carregamento especificados. No seu detalhamento chegou-se a dimensões bastante favoráveis (não robustas) pesando na ordem de 272kgf no sistema analisado no cenário 1 (plataforma P19 com SCR de 6.625in) e 674kgf no segundo cenário (plataforma P25 com SCR de 8.825in). Entretanto, é recomendável realizar ainda uma análise de fadiga das peças projetadas, para que possa ser indicada a vida útil de utilização do conjunto projetado.

A NEW TOP CONNECTION SYSTEM FOR STEEL CATENARY RISERS
ABSTRACT
Petrobras carried out several studies in order to verify the structural variability of SCRs connected to production unities of the FPSOs type, semi-submersible platforms and monocolumn platforms. The results obtained from these studies indicate that due to the great stresses developed at the top region as a consequence of the platform rotation movements, SCR’s top connections are usually made by means of robust stress joints or flex joints. These components can add high costs to any project, especially in cases where titanium is required. To try to avoid these costs, the objective of this work is to present a new top connection system called suspender. This system is composed by the SCR, a mooring line segment, a flexible jumper and a “Y” connector, and has the advantage of reducing the transmission of flexional stresses from the platform to the SCR.
The performance of this alternative was compared to a more conventional one, composed by a SCR and a flex joint, and the obtained results indicate the reduction of maximum stresses at the top region without changing the SCR behavior at the TDZ, and the possibility of extending the fatigue life by changing the SCR configuration.
INTRODUCTION
One of the greater difficulties in designing SCRs for floating unities of the semi-submersible platforms type, monocolumn and FPSOs is the high level of acting strains observed in the top region of SCR, due to the rotational movements, leading to stress levels above the allowable.
The proposed system, which is named as “suspensory”, is characterized as not transmitting such effects to SCR, and is composed by 4 structural components: 1 upholding cable (mooring line), a metal Y, a flexible riser jumper and the rigid steel riser. The SCR and the flexible jumper are connected to the metal Y, being the weight of the whole set supported by the platform through the upholding cable; the oil transport from the rigid riser to the platform is made by the flexible jumper. Therefore, this system significantly reduces the transmission of bending moments toward the rigid riser, eliminating the necessity of flexjoint or stressjoints. Another advantage offered by the system is the possibility of varying the depth of the metal Y during the operational life of the platform, withdrawing or releasing the cables and flexible jumper, in order to distribute the structural damage due to the strain along the TDZ of SCR (touch down zone).
The feasability of the proposed system was investigated in the following scenario:
Semi-submersible platform in a water depth of 600m and SCR of 8.625in [1]
Satisfactory results had already been obtained in a previous project developed by PETROBRAS together with COPPE/UFRJ in the following scenario:
Semi-submersible platform in a water depth of 800m and SCR of 6.625in [2]
Monocolumn platform located in the Gulf of Mexico in a water depth of 2500m and SCR of 8.625in[3];
Extremes analyses were carried out considering operational cases, extremes and accidental to obtain maximum response parameters for the different elements of the proposed system. At this stage, we obtained also maximum strains in the connection point of SCR with the flexible jumper in order to allow the Y connection design. The employment of a Y-down and Y-up shaped connecting mechanism was investigated. This evaluation too took place through the preliminary strain analysis of SCR.
Some results obtained through the proposed system were compared to ones obtained through a conventional system constituted by SCR and flexjoint, as much concerning stress maximum levels as structural damage value determined by fatigue analysis.
DESCRIPTION OF THE ANALYSED SYSTEM
The system has 4 structural components: 1 upholding cable (mooring line), a metal Y, a flexible riser jumper and a rigid steel riser, as shown in figure 1.
The feasibility of the proposed system was investigated in the following scenario:
o SCR 8.625in, thickness of 0.5in;
o Flexible jumper of 6” FLEX 203.50012;
o Mooring line: AR3SMt3mm;

Several system configurations were investigated in order to verify how the response parameters of each element are influenced:
1) SCR: von Mises tensions in TDP;
2) Mooring line and flexible jumper traction;
3) Teansions in the Y connector;
In figure 2 are shown three configurations named as “A models”, characterized by flexible jumpers having a top angle of 6 degrees at the connection with the platform. In figure 3 are shown other three configurations named as “ B models” which were defined so that the arrival angle of the flexible jumper at the connection with the “Y” was perpendicular to SCR. This way, in the “B” models, are employed the “T” connections. Figures 4 and 5 show the configurations of “A” and “B” models.

PHASE I – DYNAMICS ANALYSIS PERFORMED
For the evaluation of the global system behaviour and achievement of the response parameters, dynamic analyses were carried out in the time domain through the in-house ANFLEX [4] PETROBRAS program. In the analyses were considered annual loadings, decennary and centenary, characterizing the operational loading cases, extremes and accidental, respectively.
Figure 6 shows the maximun von Mises stresses in SCR of configurations using the T connection (B models) as well as stresses obtained in conventional system SCR employing a flexjoint on top. It turns out that the proposed system displays the same stress level in TDP when compared to the conventional SCR.

Figure 7 shows the results in term of maximum tension ratio of von Mises acting in TDP for the acceptable tension of the considered loading case. The same results were obtained for the top of SCR and are shown in figure 8. It turns out that different configurations present a similar structural behaviour.

Figures 7 and 8 show the maximum tension obtained at the top of the flexible jumper and mooring line, where we verified that the system behaves in a similar way in the different considered configurations..

Stress analyses were carried out considering 22 sea states. The stress was assessed exclusively in the region comprising the rigid risers. Nonlinear Random dynamic analyses were carried out in the time domain through the ANFLEX [4[ program. The fatigue damage was calculated through the POSFAL [5] program using the counting method of the rainflow cycles and the SND curve of the DNV. Figures 11 and 12 show the results obtained in the TDP region of the risers, where we verified that the systems behave in a nearly identical way. We notice that the analysed model is that employing the “T” connection. Therefore we can consider that each system represent, actually, a stage along the operational life of the platform, whose total damage suffered by SCR is the sum of 1/3 of the fatigue damages in each stage (Y with 50m, 100m and 150m depth).

PHASE II – LOCAL STRESS ANALYSIS PERFORMED
The structural analysis of Y connection element was conducted through isolated finite elements model (Y + part of the tube). The analysis was conducted considering if we have or not simultaneity of global analyses extracted strains, which are used as acting loads in local analyses of Y connection. Analyses of the supports were made referring to the configurations shown in figures 3 and 5, positioned at depths of 50m, 100m and 150m.
The model of finite elements as well considered an interval of 5 meters, aiming to avoid possible edge effects in the proper “Y” region. The finite elements used in the construction of the mesh SOLID185 (isoparametric solid with 8 nodes and three DOFs for each node: translations in X,Y and Z directions).
To avoid hypostaticity, the loads imposed by the mooring line and the flexible jumper are directly applied and the lower extremity of SCR is restricted. The tractions imposed by the flexible jumper and by the mooring line are evenly distributed over the linking surface of the respective flanges. The flexing moment imposed by the flexible jumper is applied to a knot situated in the “Y” central axis over the surface of the connection flange. This knot is linked to the flange by a contact pair and, through the restriction equations, is rigidly connected to the areas situated over the contact plan of the flange.
Figure 13 illustrates the contour conditions applied, as well as the way of application of loads in Y models respectively positive and negative. Figure 14 shows the dimensions of the analysed piece.

Figures 15 and 16 show the results of the tensions at the connector obtained for the centenary loads considering depths of 100m and 150m. We verify that results are quite close, displaying once more that the configurations behave in a similar way. These results stem from the application of maximum strains obtained by global analyses without taking into account the simultaneity of their action.
In order to verify the validation of the procedure employed between the local and global analyses, a verification analysis was carried out considering the simultaneity of the strains obtained by global analyses applied in the local analysis of Y connector. Figure 17 shows a comparison between the results obtained at the top of SCR through local and global analyses, where it’s verified a great concordance between the results.

CONCLUSIONS
In this paper, a new top connection system for SCRs was investigated, which excludes the use of special devices of the flexjoint and stressjoint type. The comparison between conventional SCR and Y deviced system intends only to point out the advantage of the proposed system as for the elimination of a critical point in the dimensioning of conventional SCR, which is the flexjoint and stressjoint dimensioning capable of absorb flexional strains imposed without transmitting them to the SCR top.
The outcome results of the preliminary analyses show that the proposed system keeps the tension levels on top of SCR below the admissible values. The SCR behavior of the proposed system in the TDP region turned out to be quite similar to that of the conventional system SCR, as much for the tension levels as for the structural damage. This fact is important in so far as the SCR project with the proposed system doesn’t bring an additional concern with respect to the structural integrity of the riser in the TDP region.
As for the strain analyses, we verified that results are preoccupying, though predicted, confirming the difficulty in making possible free hanging SCR for semi-submersible platforms. Meanwhile, the analyses carried out show an important potentiality of the system in this aspect. The repositioning of Y device and consequently of TDP through the variation of the length of the top cable (stages) allows a reduction of the structural damage in TDP proportional to the number of stages adopted along its operational life.
The local analyses of the dimensioning of the linking Y pieces show that von Mises tensions are below admissible tensions for the cases of specified load. In detailing it we got to quite favourable dimensions (not robust), thinking in the order of 272kgf in the analysed system scenario 1 (plataform P19 with SCR of 6.625in) and 674kgf in the second scenario (plataform P25 with SCR of 8.825in). Meanwhile, is recommendable to carry out one more strain analysis of the designed pieces, for a possible indication of the employment of the useful life cycle of the projected set.
