Bio
A professional Japanese-to-English translator with additional experience in translation quality assurance, translation project management, general copyediting, and both local and international project coordination of DVD releases. I provide on-time, accurate translations with a focus on consistency, fidelity to the creators' intentions, English-language readability, and firm grounding in the works' cultural and genre contexts.

Experiencing both ends of the production spectrum--from the "cradle" of translation to the "grave" of the last round of proofreading before the final product goes to print--has given me a unique perspective that has informed and will continue to inform my translation approach in invaluable ways.

As an Active Member of the American Translators Association, I subscribe to its code of ethics.

SPECIALIZATIONS Video - Over a decade of experience in both animated and live-action film, TV shows, and related print media, as well as televised interviews, round-table discussions, featurettes, documentary clips, etc. Familiarity with terminology relating to the live-action movie-making, animation, and voiceover processes. Comfort and familiarity with the overall anime genre and its classic works, which I have applied to such projects as the AD Vid-NotesTM on Nerima Daikon Brothers and various episodes of Paniponi Dash!. Representative works include MADLAX, Yugo the Negotiator, This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Black Butler, Eden of the East, Guilty Crown, etc.

Print - Experience in printed interviews of various types, packaging, DVD inserts, comics, and video game content. Additional print experience in such diverse areas as international ordering assistance for individuals and motorbike manuals for personal use.

Translation Quality Assurance - Performed the role of Senior Translator (project translation supervision and QA) and Translation Proofer (translation consulting and advice) as needed during my time as an in-house translator for A.D. Vision, Inc. Representative works include Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (ST), Area 88 Original and TV series (ST), Coyote Ragtime Show (TP), Devil May Cry (TP), etc. Currently work as QA Translator for FUNimation Entertainment. Representative works include Wolf Children, The Boy and the Beast, etc.

Copyediting, Project Coordination, and English-Language QA - Coordinated projects for release on DVD in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany during my tenure as a full-time Media Coordinator for A.D. Vision, Inc. from 2006-2008. Responsibilities included proofing all aspects of a DVD release including packaging text, menu navigation, audio, video, credits, and subtitles (grammar, spelling, formatting, and timing, but not translation) as the “last point of contact” before it went to print. Representative works include 5 Centimeters Per Second, Ghost Train, Paniponi Dash! UK, Utawarerumono ~ Heldenlied Germany, etc.
