Translator and editor

I specialise in commercial business translations including annual reports, marketing, advertising, trade fair material, internal company documents and publications, market analyses related to the rail industry, service agreements, contracts, mountain sports and publishing/book trade texts.

I was a contributing translator, proofreader and editor, working on behalf of Context Gesellschaft für Sprachen- und Mediendienste mbH, Cologne, Germany, for the following major publication on renewable energy technologies:

“Energien – Technologie der Zukunft”/”Energy – Technologies of the Future”, part of the “Deutsche Standards/German Standards” series, 1st edition, 2008, Gabler Verlag publishers, Wiesbaden, Germany.

The combination of my studies in German and French - which afforded me a great insight into the countries' cultures - as well as my working background in book retail senior management (London), customer account management and the tourism sectors provides me with a solid base for translation in my specialist fields.

My philosophy rests on providing the best service possible at a reasonable rate encompassing flexibility and fairness, with an element of style as well. A translation should reflect the target language as far as is ever possible, sound authentic to a native ear while retaining the spirit of the original text.

Prices depend on degree of difficulty - negotiation is always possible. My approach is that each price is well-thought out and reflects the job in hand. I believe in full communication between client and translator in order to achieve satisfying and high-quality work.

Neither am I averse to burning the midnight oil, should the need arise!
