Bio
I am a practising English lawyer and have been since 2000. So why do I also do translation? It’s true that it pays much less, but it’s just as rewarding and offers a working pattern that is more compatible with family life (and, who knows, living abroad).

As a lawyer I am immersed in legal language every working day, and regularly draft monolingual (English) legal documents. I am uniquely placed to produce translations with an authentic legal style, while remaining faithful to the source text. I am helped by my experience of how courts construe documents in actual cases. Needless to say I bring the same professionalism to my translation work that is required of me in my legal work.

My other working fields reflect my areas of interest and expertise – I don’t take on translation work in areas I am not familiar with.
