I was born and educated in the Flemish-speaking part of Belgium. I went to college at the Katholieke Hogeschool voor vrouwen - division translator/interpreter in Antwerp, Belgium - then a para-universitary institution of Leuven (Louvain) university. Subsequently I worked and lived three years in Hamburg (Germany) and three years in London (UK). My jobs were primarily with an American grain company (Continental) and a Japanese trading house (Mitsui).

In 1980 I married and moved to the U.S. The first few years I was not allowed to work, then acquired my Alien Registration Card and finally my U.S. citizenship. I translated as a freelancer for a few companies in California and Germany, as well as some local companies in Memphis TN. At the same time I tutored/taught at a local private school. After my children graduated from college I went back to university myself and received my degree in English with EAL/ESL concentration.

Just recently I have relocated to Santa Fe NM and am eager to return to my first passion: translation.
