Source text - English • The tea exports of about 200 Million Kg are valued at appx US $ 0.4 billion and thus out of the total Indian export basket of about US $ 52 billion constitute about 0.75% only. However we cannot neglect the tea exports as small is beautiful; tea is our traditional primary export and thus not merely an economic good –it is more of a political weapon and social goodwill measure for India Inc as tea is a “mass consumption item” that touches the daily lives of all and sundry – from paupers to politicians ; from the ordinary person to the oligarch. We cannot let the Indian tea industry to languish as it has tremendous social ramifications and spin off effects – it employs about 1 million people directly and supports the employment of an equal number if not more indirectly.
Translation - Russian • выручка от экспорта порядка 200 млн. кг составляет примерно 0.4 млрд. долларов США, таким образом экспорт чая составляет всего 0.75% от общего объема индийского экспорта, который оценивается в 52 млрд. долларов США. Вместе с тем, мы не можем игнорировать экспорт чая, потому что объем его хоть и не велик, но сам по себе этот товар прекрасен; чай – это традиционный экспортный продукт Индии, это не просто товар – это наше политическое оружие и жест доброй воли со стороны Индии, т.к. чай это «товар массового потребления», который потребляется ежедневно всеми - от нищих до политиков; от обычных людей до олигархов. Мы не можем позволить индийской чайной отрасли ослабеть, поскольку она имеет большое социальное значение – в ней напрямую занято порядка 1 млн. человек, косвенно еще такое же примерно количество людей работает в чайной отрасли, если не больше.
