We are just interested to know what the picture makes you think about when you look at it. So the first picture is Picture "A". Please look at the picture and then try and say what you think is happening here.

Translation - English Some time later, the boy asked his mother, "May I go play with children?" His mother got up and said to him, "Hey, pay attention! If you play with the children, suppose they find out that your mother is a snake? They will come here to kill me. You must not forget this. However, if this happens, if the villagers find out about me and kill me, you must cut off my head at the neck. Then you must plant my head in the ground."
English to Bislama: Exerpt from conversation on Climate Change General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Education / Pedagogy
Source text - English Now, when you go to school, you must learn a lot, and do well. You must study hard and try hard to think about your future because you must find a good job. If climate change continues it will affect all our coconuts and cocoa. We won't be able to have big harvests like we had in the past any more, just like now.

Bio
—Currently unavailable. Thank you for your interest.
Thank you for your interest in my profile as a Bislama language professional. My name is Amanda Russell-Henevoy. I run Henevoy Translations as the Lead Translator and Editor for a small group of fluent Bislama/English speakers, who were all formally trained and certified in their fluency. All translators including myself have extensive experience living in Vanuatu. Whether your project needs just one translator, or several, please contact me for availability.
My full resume and letters of reference are available to potential clients upon request.
Education and Background:
I have been a Bislama translator since 2003. I became fluent in Bislama during my service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Vanuatu. I lived in remote villages in total language immersion and taught workshops entirely in Bislama for concepts such as economics, business diversity, small business development, personal finance, community development, disaster preparation and mitigation, as well as project planning and management.
I wrote several course books and workshop guides for the use of my predecessors. I also coordinated a microfinance loan program for rural small businesses in Vanuatu.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, and Advertising, with a minor course of study in General Business.
Awards and Recognition:
I have been commended by members of the Vanuatu Provincial Government and Non-governmental Aid Organizations (NGO's) for my ability to tailor my trainings and translations to the level of rural Bislama speakers. These letters of reference are available upon request.
Other Information:
I have since returned to live in the United States, but I retain close ties with Vanuatu. I plan frequent trips to refresh my language skills and keep up to date on linguistic changes.
During Cyclone Pam and the aftermath, I recruited and managed a working group of 41 English-Bislama/Bislama-English speakers and translators around the world for the purpose of translating instructions for aid supplies and important messages into Bislama. This service was provided free of charge to all aid organizations and donors.
In the 15+ years I have been a Bislama Language Professional (translator, interpreter) I have provided quality translation services to universities, corporations, and private individuals in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, USA, the U.K., and E.U. I also serve as a guest lecturer on Vanuatu customs and culture at American Universities.
I am pleased to offer English to Bislama/Bislama to English translation, as well as audio/video transcription and a variety of other services listed in my profile. Please contact me for a rate quote for your project.
