Source text - German Der Gegenstand dieses Dokumentes wird in Übereinstimmung mit den Bestimmungen der Technischen Produktspezifikation RFI TCAR SP AR 03 001 Rev.B. hergestellt.
Das Produkt wurde für eine maximales rechnerisches Moment von 19KNm (positives und negatives Biegemoment für Querschnitt in Schwellenmitte, sowie für ein in gleicher Größe auftretendes positives Biegemoment im Schwellenquerschnitt unter der Schiene ausgelegt und berechnet.
Das Produkt wird komplett mit allen nötigen Komponenten für seinen Einsatz geliefert, inklusive jener Teile die zur Befestigung der Schienen und Rippenplatten erforderlich sind.
Die Komponenten für die Lieferung werden zum Teil von XXX hergestellt, zum Teil jedoch von Unterlieferanten bezogen, die unter einem zertifizierten Qualitätssicherungssystem oder einem äquivalenten, von XXX akzeptierten System arbeiten. Die verwendeten Unterlieferanten sind im Verzeichnis der von XXX nach ihren eigenen internen Qualitätssicherungsverfahren qualifizierten Sublieferanten eingetragen. XXX bleibt für alle Bauteile verantwortlich, die zur Herstellung des Endproduktes herangezogen werden.
Die Schutzbleche sind nach XXX Zeichnungen gefertigt und gewährleisten eine verliersichere, korrosionsgeschützte de- montierbare Abdeckung.
In den einzelnen Abschnitten werden für jene Komponenten folgende Parameter definiert:
· Anwendbare XXX Zeichnung, von XXX genehmigt
· Technische Eigenschaften des verwendeten Vormaterials
· Prüfungen, die der Unterlieferant sowohl am Rohmaterial als auch an der fertigen Komponente vornimmt (die Annahmekriterien sind im Dokument enthalten, das XXX dem Unterlieferanten genehmigt)
· Eventuelle Rostschutzanstriche

Source text - English What could inspire such reverence for a gas tank? A great place to look for clues, of course, is back, way back, to the very earliest days of our sport. Gas stations? There weren’t any! You bought a jar of gas at the hardware store! On the rural roads of that time – glorified farm paths, really, where any gasoline-powered vehicle was a rare and possibly even frightening sight – running out of gas had to have been monumentally inconvenient. Only a total fool (probably bearing resemblance to yours truly, only with a tie and handlebar moustache) would pass up an opportunity to refuel.
But there’s so much more than history. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that the gas tank that looks so good in your lap (or is hidden so slyly under your V-Rod™ seat) has been a catalyst to some of the greatest memories of your motorcycling life. Consider that magical feeling of anticipation when you and your riding buddies are filling up just prior to a long ride, like maybe to a H.O.G.® rally. Before you rode a Harley-Davidson,® could you ever have imagined having a leisurely and pleasant time at a gas station? Even the greasiest and scariest of bathrooms can’t quell the feeling that something wonderful is afoot. Look through your photos and, if you’ve been riding a while, you’ll find shots taken at gas stations. Your non-riding friends just wouldn’t understand this (and you like it like that).
How do we love Thee, Gas Tank? Well, who among us hasn’t tapped his or her tank in a loving gesture, just to hear it thump, the way a horseman taps his steed? “There, there, Girl.” If you’ve got custom paint on your tank and somebody – anybody – tries to touch it, you become like a rabid cub-protecting grizzly. Because to you, it’s … sacred.
Just look at its elegant simplicity of purpose, crafted so true to the heritage we Harley-Davidson owners hold dear and, thanks to the loving eye of Willie G., his incomparable design team, and those who came before them, perfectly gorgeous in every detail. I’ve displayed a black and creme Heritage Softail® tank in my office for 15 years, like it’s a fine art piece. Because it is. As Marty so rightly concluded on Page 14: These things really are “art that works for a living.”
We speak fondly – indeed, righteously – of our tanks because they toil so effortlessly, look so beautiful, and speak so thoughtfully to us. It’s only logical, then, that we honor them and return their favors by listening to them. And top off every chance we get. And never fool ourselves into running on E.
I’m a changed man, now. I swear I am. I’ve seen the error in my ways. Can I hear an “Amen”?

La soluzione, come al solito, va ricercata molto, molto lontano, tornando ai primissimi giorni di vita del nostro sport. Le stazioni di rifornimento, semplicemente, non esistevano, e la benzina si comprava a taniche alla ferramenta. Certo, restare a secco sulle strade di campagna di allora (in pratica nient’altro che sentieri tra le fattorie, dove veder passare un veicolo a benzina era un fatto tanto raro quanto, forse, spaventoso) deve essere stato una disgrazia da Guinness dei primati. Solo uno del tutto fuori di cervello (che magari, ehm, vi somiglia un poco, però ha la cravatta e i baffi a manubrio) poteva lasciarsi sfuggire un’occasione per far benzina.
Ma la storia non è tutto, anzi. Non penso di esagerare dicendo che il serbatoio così bello che vi sta davanti alla pancia (o che è abilmente nascosto sotto il sellino della vostra V-Rod™) concentra in sé alcuni dei più grandi ricordi della vostra vita di motociclisti. Pensate un attimo a quella magica sensazione di attesa che avete provato facendo benzina con i vostri amici prima di partire per un lungo viaggio, ad esempio un rally H.O.G.®. Prima di guidare una Harley-Davidson,® avreste mai immaginato di sentirvi tanto beati in una stazione di servizio? Anche la toilette più sporca e allucinante non è riuscita a farvi reprimere la sensazione che stava per accadere qualcosa di straordinario. Scorrete le vostre foto e, se andate in moto già da qualche anno, ne troverete senz’altro alcune scattate ai distributori. I vostri amici che non vanno in moto questo non lo capirebbero mai (e a voi sta bene così).
Quanto Ti amiamo, Serbatoio della Benzina? Chi tra noi non ha mai dato un buffetto affettuoso al suo serbatoio, solo per sentirne il suono, come un cowboy fa con il suo cavallo? “Brava, bella bambina…”. Se avete dipinto voi il vostro serbatoio e qualcuno (chiunque) tenta di toccarlo, scattate come un’orsa inferocita che protegge i suoi piccoli. Perché per voi è… sacro!
Guardate com’è funzionale, semplice ed elegante, modellato in modo tanto fedele alla tradizione cui siamo tanto affezionati noi, proprietari di Harley-Davidson… e, grazie all’amoroso sguardo di Willie G., al suo team di designer davvero unici e a coloro che li hanno preceduti, questo oggetto è assolutamente splendido in ogni dettaglio. Ho tenuto per 15 anni, nel mio ufficio, il serbatoio color nero e crema di una Heritage Softail® come se fosse un’opera d’arte. Come ha giustamente detto Marty (lo trovate a pagina 14), in fin dei conti questi oggetti sono “arte che si guadagna da vivere.”
Noi parliamo con amore (e a ragione) dei nostri serbatoi perché lavorano senza nessuno sforzo, sono bellissimi e ci parlano in un modo che ci fa riflettere. È il minimo, allora, rispettarli e restituire loro tutto il bene che ci fanno dando loro ascolto. E cogliere tutte le occasioni che ci si presentano per farlo. E cerchiamo di non cadere più come fessi nella trappola di guidare con la spia rossa accesa.
