Translator and editor with 20 years' experience. My Spanish-English experience dates back to 1994. Although my main focus has been on financial services, I have also collaborated on subtitling for a number of documentaries, including award-winning films, "El Lugar Más Pequeño" (2011), "Las Patronas" (2014) and "Tempestad" (2015).
After a trip to Norway in 2009 led to a permanent connection there, I began teaching myself Norwegian, and passed the NHH's highly demanding Translatøreksamen on my first attempt in 2014 (the failure rate averages around 80%). Several weeks later, I heard I had won second prize in the 2013/14 John Dryden Translation Competition run by the BCLT and BCLA for my translation of an excerpt of a short story by Hans Herbjørnsrud. I now live in Telemark, in Central Norway, where I have set up as a freelance translator, with a strong focus on literary and academic work. |
