Source text - English WWF today welcomes the ambition of a new government consultation on heat and energy saving, which could lead to many homes in England and Wales receiving a green makeover and reducing their CO2 emissions. The UK’s existing housing stock is responsible for 27% of the country’s total CO2 emissions, so we welcome the government’s emphasis on tackling the energy efficiency of our homes as a positive step forward in the battle against climate change. The Heat and Energy Saving Consultation, published today, outlines a number of measures which would help more homeowners insulate their homes and save money on their heating bills. These include plans to give one quarter of all homes a full energy makeover by 2020, and the extension of home energy audits to all homes.
