I am a skilled freelance French-to-English translator with years of experience translating complex documents in a variety of disciplines. I began my study of French at the tender age of eleven, and lived in central Paris for eight years before transitioning to academia where I taught, among a great many other things, courses in advanced translation. I am flexible, reliable, and I speak, read, and write French with quasi-native fluency.

I am a native English speaker who has studied French from the tender age of eleven, and earned my PhD in French language and literature in 2010. I lived and worked in central Paris for eight years, both as Assistant Director of the University of Connecticut’s Study Abroad Program, as well for the Australian government in their Paris embassy. During my career as an academic, I have taught advanced translation courses at the university level, courses in which I and my students covered a wide variety of disciplines, including more technical fare in a variety of fields. In sum, I have acquired nearly twenty years’ experience as a professional linguist and translator.

My home office equipment includes a laptop with a high-speed internet connection, printer, flatbed scanner and copy machine. While I have practical knowledge of SDL Trados, I work with Wordfast and can receive Trados TMs (exported to .tmx) and deliver Trados compatible TMs. I can work with files created with all main MS Office programs such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

My long experience as an academic has taught me to be both thorough and meticulous in my work, qualities I would bring to any translation projects you might ask me to undertake. I would likewise be willing to take a short translation test to ensure your peace of mind.
