Source text - English That was the gist of a letter sent to the Queen by the British Academy on 22 July 2009, in response to a question she had put to a gathering of red-faced professors at the London School of Economics: 'Why had you not seen it coming?' In their letter, thirty-five of Britain's top economists answered in effect: 'Whoops! We mistook a Great Big Bubble for a Brave New World.' The gist of their response was that, while they had their finger on the pulse and their eye on the data, they had made two related diagnostic mistakes: the error of extrapolation and the (rather more sinister) error of falling prey to their own rhetoric.
Translation - Spanish Esa era la esencia de una carta enviada a la Reina por la Academia Británica el 22 de julio de 2009 en respuesta a una consulta que ella había presentado a una reunión de ruborizados profesores en la London School of Economics: «¿Por qué no lo vieron venir?» En su carta, treinta y cinco de los más destacados economistas británicos prácticamente responden: «¡Uy! Confundimos una Burbuja grandota con un Mundo Nuevo y Flamante.» El meollo de su respuesta fue que, mientras estuvieron al tanto y con los datos a la vista, habían cometido dos errores de diagnóstico relacionados: el error de la extrapolación y el (bastante más siniestro) error de caer en la trampa de su propia retórica.

De plus, ils auraient été parfaitement conscients du risque couru du fait de la transgression des règles de qualité et de sécurité. La décision de lancer la navette aurai été un pari fou pour respecter les délais et satisfaire le public et les autorités. Pour pousser jusqu'au bout cette explication, le calcul aurait été le suivant, exprimé de façon triviale: «Ou ça passe et nous seron des héros comme l'équipage, ou ça casse et nous trouverons bien le moyen d'échapper aux conséquences.»
Translation - Spanish La primera tesis es la del «calculador amoral1». Es la tesis de la culpabilidad de los actores, que no habrían respetado las normas y procedimientos. Además, habrían sido perfectamente conscientes del riesgo que corrían al transgredir las normas de calidad y seguridad. La decisión de lanzar el transbordador habría sido una apuesta loca para respetar los plazos y satisfacer a la opinión pública y las autoridades. Llevando al extremo esta explicación, el cálculo habría sido el siguiente, expresado llanamente: «O sale, y seremos tan héroes como la tripulación, o no sale, y ya veremos cómo salimos del lío».

I have been working as a freelance translator since 1998, while still studying my Degree in Translation and Interpreting. In 2006, after completing a Master's Degree in Publishing and spending 4 years working for one of Spain’s leading publishing groups, I decided to establish myself as a full-time freelance translator and proofreader.
Since 2014, I divide my time between my freelance career and the managementof Irmás Cartoné, an independent publishing house devoted to the translation of classical literature into Galician.
Through the years, I have had the opportunity to work in a wide variety of fields and with very diverse clients, both directly and through translation agencies, translating dozens of books of fiction and non-fiction.
