A. PURPOSE
The Platforming Units convert low octane naphtha to high octane gasoline blending stocks. Three distinct favorable reactions occur to increase product octane:
1. Paraffins are isomerized.
2. Paraffins are cyclized to naphthenes.
3. Naphthenes are converted to aromatics.
Aromatics are left unreacted. Reaction #3 is a net producer of hydrogen. Platformer hydrogen is consumed in the hydrogen consuming units i.e., Lomax, Unifiner, and Hydrocracker units.

#2 Platformer is limited to 3,000 BPSD fresh feed charge.

F. PROCESS DESCRIPTION
The following describes the process flow of Platformer. Feed and recycle hydrogen are heated to 960oF by heat exchange with reactor effluent and by a gas fired furnace before entering the first reactor. The major reaction occurring in the first reactor is the dehydrogenation of naphthenes to aromatics. The highly endothermic reaction results in an outlet temperature of approximately 840ºF. Reactor effluent is then heated to approximately 940ºF in the second reactor and again reactor effluent is reheated before going to the third reactor. Reaction rates and temperature drops are largest in the first reactor and lowest in the third.
The third reactor effluent is cooled by heat exchange with the fresh feed prior to being sent to the product separator where liquid products are separated from gases.

Ниже представлена схема технологического процесса Установки Платформинга. До попадания в первый реактор сырье и рециркулирующий водород нагреваются до 960oF в теплообменнике исходящей из реактора технологической средой и в газовой нагревательной печи. Главной реакцией, происходящей в первом реакторе, является дегидрирование нафтенов в ароматические углеводороды. В результате высоко эндотермической реакции температура на выходе составляет около 840oF. Далее исходящая из реактора технологическая среда нагревается приблизительно до 940oF во втором реакторе и снова подогреваются до попадания в третий реактор. Скорость реакции и величины падения температуры наибольшие в первом реакторе и наименьшие в третьем реакторе.
Поток, исходящий из третьего реактора, охлаждается посредством теплообмена с новым сырьем до отправки в сепаратор продукта, где жидкие продукты отделяются от газов.
