CATHETER DESCRIPTION
The High-Density Mapping Catheter is designed to facilitate electrophysiological mapping of the heart. It is deployed in a heart chamber through an 8F guiding sheath, such as the Guiding Sheath. This deflectable catheter consists of multiple 3F spines on its distal tip, each spine having multiple platinum electrodes that are used for stimulation and recording. Pushing forward on the catheter thumbknob deflects the tip; pulling back on the thumbknob straightens the tip. This device includes an irrigation lumen for connetion to a source of continuous drip anticoagulant fluid.
INDICATIONS FOR USE
The High-Density Mapping Catheter is indicated for multiple electrode electrophysiological mapping of cardiac structures in the heart, i.e., recording or stimulation only. This catheter is intended to obtain electrograms in the atrial and ventricular regions of the heart.
WARNINGS
• Cardiac catheterization procedures present the potential for significant x-ray exposure, which can result in acute radiation injury as well as increased risk for somatic and genetic effects, to both patients and laboratory staff due to the x-ray beam intensity and duration of the fluoroscopic imaging.
• Cardiac catheterization should only be performed after adequate attention has been given to the potential radiation exposure associated with the procedure, and steps taken to minimize this exposure.
• Do not immerse the proximal handle or cable connector in fluids; electrical performance could be affected.
• Do not introduce the Catheter into a guiding sheath with its distal spines folded backwards (i.e., toward the handle). Collapse the spines together prior to insertion.
• Note: Do not use the Catheter in conjunction with transseptal sheaths featuring side holes larger than 1.25 mm in diameter.

ADVERTENCIAS
• Los procedimientos de cateterismo cardíaco conllevan una potencial exposición significativa a los rayos X, lo que puede ocasionar lesiones graves por radiación, así como también un aumento del riesgo de sufrir efectos somáticos y genéticos debido a la intensidad de los rayos X y a la duración de la fluoroscopia, tanto para pacientes como para el personal de laboratorio.
• El cateterismo cardíaco sólo debe realizarse luego de considerar adecuadamente la potencial exposición a la radiación asociada al procedimiento y de tomar los recaudos necesarios para reducir al mínimo dicha exposición.
• No sumerja el mango proximal ni el conector del cable en líquidos; el rendimiento eléctrico podría verse afectado.
• No introduzca el catéter en un tubo percutáneo con las vías distales hacia atrás (es decir, hacia el mango). Enderece y junte las vías antes de insertar el catéter.

IRREGULAR -- The gene for the CFTR protein is large, containing approximately 250,000 nucleotide binding pairs of genomic DNA distributed into 27 exons(16). Transcribed mRNA consists of about 6,500 nucleotides that normally translates into a human protein of 1,480 amino acids(7), although spliced variants are known; e.g., heart(17), kidney(18), testicles(19). The original hydropathy plot predicted two sets of six transmembrane spanning domains (TMD) separated by a large region associated with the cytosolic between TMD 6 and 7. The cytosolic region is comprised of one nucleotide binding domain (NBD1) separated by a relatively long, putatively globular, region referred to as the ‘regulatory domain’ (R) because of numerous consensus phosphorylation sites contained therein. A second binding domain (NBD2) is located between TMD 12 and the c-terminus of the protein. These three domains as well as the N-terminus are all associated with the cytosol(7). Two glycosylation sites are present on an extracellular loop between TMD 7 and 8 (Fig. 1). These sites do not become glycosylated unless the protein is mature (completely translated). The mature, fully glycosylated form has a molecular weight of about 150 kD; the immature form without its sugars, it is only about 130 kD(20).
