Bio
GABRIELA ALEJANDRA GONZÁLEZ is a Certified Translator of English, graduated from the Universidad de Morón, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

She works as Webpage Translator and Localizer, specializing in hardware, software, electronics, e-commerce, telecommunications, marketing, and computer technology. She has also been registered as Expert Witness Translator since 1998, and was the creator and director of an educational portal for 5 to 12 year olds, their parents, and their teachers.

She took active part in the work of the Certified Translators Association of Buenos Aires until 2004, as Member of the University Affairs, Publications, Computer Applications, and Professional Practice Commissions, and Coordinator of the Professional Exchange and Copyright Subcomissions. She is Guest Researcher at the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom (http://clg.wlv.ac.uk/people/index.php), and Member of the Literary, Copyright, and Technology Committees of FIT. She was Aurora Borealis Award panel member in 2005.

She has an outstanding academic track record, having led courses on technology applied to translation, term extractors, converters, termbases, corpora, translation memories, webpage translation, and pharsing; and done research on these topics and on anaphora resolution, among others. The establishments were she has lectured include the Universidad del Aconcagua in Mendoza (2004), the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom (2003 and 2004), the International Federation of Translators World Congress held in Vancouver in 2002, the Courses Department of the Certified Translators Association of Buenos Aires (2001-2004), the 4th Latin American Congress of Translation and Interpretation - also organized by the Certified Translators Association of Buenos Aires (2003) -, the 5th. Conference on Professional Practice at the Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (2004), the Certified Translators Association of the Province of Córdoba (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006), the Universidad Católica Argentina (2005), the Translators and Interpreters Union of Santiago, Chile (2005), The Universidad de Concepción (2005, 2006), and the Universidad de Antofagasta (2006). In the latter two universities, she has provided training in the use and application of translators’ tools to translation course lecturers.

She has been in charge of distance learning as from 2006, lectures for ProZ in compulsory-attendance courses, and is about to publish a series of e-books on this portal.

Finally, as concerns her private career, she heads the Traducciones en Línea (“Online Translations”) studio, and is the Operations Director of El Refugio del Idioma (“The Language Shelter”), independent venture for language professionals in partnership with her colleague Beatriz Rodríguez.
