Bio
I have a first-class honours degree in French, three years of a law degree, and spent 15 years as a journalist. This included three years in the UK, working for the BBC and commercial radio in London, and two based in New Caledonia covering the French South Pacific for the Australian press. I have also lived in France for nearly a year.

As a former journalist, I am accustomed to writing to publication standard and meeting deadlines. Journalism taught me to grasp the essentials of a subject rapidly and developed my research skills. I’ve completed three courses in anatomy and physiology and read widely in the medical and scientific literature.

My translation work is principally in the fields of law, medicine, the environment, government, tourism, marketing and business. The documents I have translated include:

- Law: real estate contracts; stock exchange and VAT legislation, court judgments and submissions; powers of attorney; tender documents; divorce and custody dispute documents; television co-production contracts; police reports. Involved in two teams translating documents for court purposes.

- Medicine: regular work on clinical trials, including hospital and medical reports; patient questionnaires; summaries of product characteristics; scientific articles;

- Environment: policy papers, grant agreements; regular work on environment and development projects;

- Journalism: newspaper articles, press releases;

- Government: tender documents, speeches and presentations;

- Tourism: brochures and material for websites, including regular work on tourism initiatives in New Caledonia (French South Pacific); a booklet on advertising strategies, cosmetics brochures, service provision proposals;

- Business: marketing documents; company annual financial statements; business correspondence.

My location in Australia offers clients in Europe and North America the advantage of being able to have work done overnight and ready for the next business day.

My rates are a minimum of USD 0.11/ EUR 0.10 per source word with higher rates negotiated for technical or urgent material.
