English to Italian: U9 players training session (23rd January 2020): basic technical skills and peripheral vision awareness
Source text - English “Today, I want to let them play. I want them to have as much fun as possible.”
This is what I had in my mind before planning the second training session of the last week for my U9 team.
On the other side, every single training session must include useful objectives. Young players must grow up every day; so I can’t let them play just for the sake of it.
I tried to create a one-set-up training session to let them play hiding technical skills coaching key factors and player tactical stuff with and without the ball together with cognitive requirements.
It was a sort of experiment, as I was sure they were able to carry out a part of the session, but asking myself if they could have been able to fix issues like moving off the ball and playing with peripheral vision while dribbling, passing, and receiving.
Who is the player everybody of us recognizes as the best “move off the ball and peripheral vision midfielder“? Xavi Hernandez had come to mind.
I must say that the result was excellent; they had much fun, despite finding difficulties in some parts, from a pace point of view; but I saw them giving all their best to carry out all the variations at the highest level possible.

Questo è quello che avevo in mente prima di pianificare la seconda sessione di allenamento di Luella settimana per i miei giocatori U9.
D’altra parte, ogni singola sessione di allenamento deve comunque includere obiettivi utili alla crescita dei ragazzi. I giovani giocatori devono crescere ogni giorno; quindi…
non posso lasciarli giocare solo per il gusto di farlo.
Ho cercato di creare una sessione di allenamento per consentire loro di giocare ma inserendo comunque proposte per il perfezionamento tecnico, elementi di tattica individuale con e senza palla insieme ad una richiesta cognitiva importante.
Possiamo considerare questa sessione una specie di esperimento, poiché ero sicuro che fossero in grado di svolgere buona parte della sessione, ma mi chiedevo se sarebbero riusciti a risolvere problemi come condurre palla, trasmettere e ricevere con attenzione alla visione periferica, dato che giocatori così giovani sono solitamente ancora molto focalizzati sul loro rapporto con la palla.
Chi è il centrocampista che ognuno di noi riconosce come il migliore “nel muoversi con e senza palla e dalla miglior visione periferica“, negli ultimi anni, pur non essendo più in attività? Dal mio punto di vista, Xavi Hernandez.
Devo dire che il risultato è stato eccellente; credo che i ragazzi si siano divertiti, nonostante trovassero difficoltà di ritmo ed intensità in alcuni momenti della seduta; tuttavia, li ho visti dare il massimo per eseguire tutte le varianti al meglio possibile.
