My hopeful years were behind me. Back then, I was full of the feeling which overwhelms us when we know nothing; it grants us the false sense of security that we can face and overcome anything, absolutely anything that life sets in front of us, a broken heart being the only exception.

His impoverished origins alone couldn’t guarantee the integrity of the wood, the raw material from which his character would be carved. Yet his principal virtue, truthfulness, made him unique. He was a good man—although that came to pass later—born in a remote part of the country where the seeds of the desire to overcome are rooted deeper than anywhere else; he wanted to be a useful person.

My friends were always begging me to try things from their diverse menu of gadgets and witchcraft intended to attract a partner, and I put up anemic resistance. I made complicit efforts to tone down their suggestions, to make them palatable to my own convictions, but it only served to present me with a ridiculous, speculative view of myself that I found quite depressing.

I'm a native English-speaker, and my father is a native Spanish-speaker, which means I've been exposed to the language since childhood. In high school and college, I formalized that education before moving to a Spanish-speaking country.
I'm an American who's been living in the province of Catalonia, Spain, for the last 10 years. I work as an editor and translator. I have edited for Xlibris, Inc. of the United States and New Niu Press of Barcelona.
Literary translation is my forte. I've translated novels, chapters, synopsis for publication, as well as a recent project working with the dialogue of a manga-style graphic novel. Who knew there are so many imaginative people in the world? It's a passion of mine to help bring creative works to life in English.
Additionally, I have experience in the fields of insurance and hospitality/guest services.
