German to English: Wunderschönes Kroatien General field: Other Detailed field: Tourism & Travel
Translation - English Beautiful Croatia.
The sky shines blue and the sea glistens in the sun of Slovenia, I pass cypresses which rise meter high into the sky along the mountainous coastal road, at this Mediterranean sight my anticipation for a beautiful holiday rises immeasurably. This is a perfect day to travel and my destination is Croatia.
Where is the journey going? To Rovinj!
As an original island that was connected to the mainland only in 1763, Rovinj is surrounded to a large extent by the Adriatic Sea, azure blue water, so clear that you can watch the fish on the 5-10 meter deep bottom of the harbour basin.
Rovinj was first mentioned in the work "Cosmographia" in the 5th century, but since relics from the 2nd century BC were found, it is assumed that Rovinj is much older. No matter if 1500 or 2000 years, the old town is definitely worth a visit, you will experience a journey through time away from the shopping arcade.
Brick paved paths lead you through narrow alleys with houses that make you curious about the history of this beautiful place. You should definitely stop at one of the numerous small cafés along the stone coast, the view - 10m above sea level on the breathtaking Adriatic Sea is priceless, look at and enjoy.
About 40 km away from Rovinj lies Pula, bigger, louder, faster. With about 57,000 inhabitants, Pula is the largest city in Istria. The area around Pula can look back on about 7,000 years of history.
The "Amphitheater" is Pula's landmark and definitely worth a visit.
If you want to experience the friendly people, the perfect food, the magic, the warmth in this magical place, no! If you want to see it, feel it and experience it, then you should definitely head for beautiful Croatia as your next destination!
