Lectured Law Internationally, subjects included; Contract, Tort, Private and Public International Law. 5+ years
Human Resource professional in London, 5+ years.
HR experience includes; Global Head of HR, Consultant for PwC, HR Business Partner London 2012 Olympics. Coach and assessor of international HR professionals for CIPD Chartership and Fellowship. Provided coaching for non native English speaking managers in the context of people management. Supported Legal English language development. I am a registered TOLES Legal English training and exam provider and EULETA Member.
I have worked as a professional translator, since 1997. Including as a full time in-house legal translator. Translation and interpreting skills have been invaluable, as a HR professional, during transnational mergers and acquisitions, new territory start up, and in the people management, and mobilisation implementation of international remote teams, shared across projects.
ADDITIONAL DETAIL; I have worked as a in-house legal translator, and had other freelance translation roles, and international business roles requiring use of language skills. I was among 20 people selected globally to attend UN International Legal Research Symposiums, but had to decline as I was undertaking elite sports competitions at the time. I am a 2x Olympian. I have translated and interpreted in many scenarios in this context, typically in the area of medical, health and travel. This includes, simultaneous medical translation (German to English, and Danish to English). My career after law lecturing was as an international HR professional, and I used my languages in complex merger and acquisition situations, and people management of remote global implementation teams, functioning across multiple projects. In one of my roles I was the sole HR contact for over 1000 people for over 2 years, on projects of major national importance, including the 2012 Olympic Site, power stations, G20 Summit security and incident teams, as well as a specialist Gurkha unit with over 100 Nepalese security personnel. In other roles I was the sole HR contact across multiple countries in a company rapidly expanding through transnational merger and acquisition. I used my language skills for communication with partners, clients and employees, and for translating contracts, employment law, company manuals, as well as coaching non native English speaking managers and directors in regards to people management processes, employment law, and audits such as ISO, IIP, and IID.
