Bio
With the exception of a two-year spell spent in Stockholm, working as translator and editor for Nordregio, a Nordic institution for comparative spatial planning and regional policy, I have been working as a full-time translator for the past twenty years or so. Since the beginning of 1997 I have managed my own translation business, Scriptorium, after the volume of translation work had grown so much I could not manage it on my own any longer.

I have been working primarily as an independent translator following a three-year period of employment at the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There I served as in-house translator and section supervisor for the Icelandic translations of the EU regulations, which were done as part of the preparation for the European Economic Area. At the conclusion of this period I did two tours of duty in Brussels, revising the Icelandic translations before the agreement was concluded.

From 2005-08 I was head translator and editor for the Icelandic commercial bank Landsbanki and since the banking collapse have been working for most Resolution Committees in winding-up the old banks as well as doing extensive translations legal disputes in connection with this. I am a regular translator for the IMF, Icelandic public and private companies, and the Icelandic Financial Supervisory Authority.
