Source text - Arabic We are pleased to announce this year (2014) that we continued to strengthen cooperation with our partners, donors and local institutions which work in the same field, in addition to the beneficiaries from journalists and media graduates’. We have been able to develop a culture work seeks to achieve continuous development to contribute in creating free and independent media that serves the Palestinian societies’ issues locally and internationally. Also we were able to gain the trust of many local organizations and official bodies which were obvious from the overwhelming response of the implementation of their activities in the organization.
We have recorded a distinguish success with the launch of Sawa News Agency which is an independent outlet that works 24 hours to convey the truth with objectivity, professionalism and independence. Moreover, it gives the right of publication for all journalists, intellectuals, writers and other different opinions.
In this year 2015, the Press House- Palestine completes its second year and we are proud to show these important achievements despite its newness.
Finally, we thank our partners for their massive support and efforts without which we could not have done such achievements.
The 2014 carried lots of pain, suffering, destruction and siege as much as a bit of happiness, where a new consensus government was born, so the Palestinians have one government instead of two, even though it does not work properly.
Press House’s mission promotes freedom of opinion, expression and improve the quality and development of media through capacity-building, networking programs, advocacy and media documentation based on the principles of Human Rights which include the empowerment, equality and non-discrimination.
During this year, Press House – Palestine implemented programs and activities which were clearly defined and distinctive to achieve its mission and objectives. The implemented activities number within the three programs have reached 60 activities where 1,000 beneficiaries approximately participated, 13 training courses, 12 press meetings, 25 initiative, 5 exchange of experiences meetings and other different activities were implemented.
In addition, Sawa news agency which works 24 hours to spread the news in order to enable the new trainees of media and graduates to publish their works where 460 news articles for new and independent journalists and hundreds of reports and daily news were published. It is important to note that there are 80,000 followers.
Press house welcomed nearly 5,000 visitors from institutions and local community during the year. The institution had a prominent role in media coverage during the recent war on Gaza by forming news room operation for local and foreign journalists for 24 hours. It also published a film that highlighted the violations against journalists during the war.

في هذا العام (2015) تكمل مؤسسة بيت الصحافة عامها الثاني ويحق لنا أن ننظر بفخرٍ واعتزاز و نحن نستعرض هذه المسيرة من الإنجازات المهمة التي حققتها المؤسسة رغم حداثة عمرها.
وختاماً أود أن أتقدم باسمي وباسم زميلاتي و زملائي في المؤسسة إلى شركائنا الذي نفخر بالعمل معهم مانحين ومؤسسات وأفراد على دعمهم السّخي و جهدهم الذي لولاه لما استطعنا أن نحقق هذه الانجازات التي نضعها باعتزاز بين أيديكم.
مرّ العام 2014 على المجتمع الفلسطيني بقدر كبير من الألم والمعاناة والّدمار و الحصار، وبقدر قليل من السعادة وكان ذلك بميلاد حكومة التوافق، حيث أصبح للفلسطينيين حكومة واحدة بدل حكومتين حتى وإن كانت لا تعمل بالشكل المطلوب.
وتأتي رسالة مؤسسة بيت الصحافة في إطار السّعي إلى تعزيز حرية الرأي و التعبير والإرتقاء بجودة الإعلام وتطويره من خلال برامج بناء القدرات والتشبيك و المناصرة و التوثيق والإعلام، انطلاقاً من مبادىء حقوق الإنسان و التي تشمل التمكين و المساواة وعدم التمييز.
هذا وخلال العام تمكنت مؤسسة بيت الصحافة – فلسطين وضمن إستراتيجيتها من تنفيذ برامج وأنشطة واضحة المعالم ومميزة باتجاه تحقيق رسالتها وأهدافها، حيث وصل عدد الأنشطة المنفذة ضمن البرامج الثلاث (60) نشاط تم الوصول من خلالها إلى ما يقارب (1,000) مستفيد/ة، حيث تم تنفيذ(13) دورة تدريبية، (12) لقاء واجه الصحافة ، (25) مبادرة، (5) لقاء تبادل للخبرات، وأنشطة أخرى متفرقة.

كما استقبلت بيت الصحافة ما يقارب خمسة آلاف (5,000) زائراً من المؤسسات والمجتمع المحلي خلال العام.
هذا وكان للمؤسسة دور بارز في التغطية الإعلامية أثناء الحرب الأخيرة على غزة من خلال تشكيل غرفة عمليات إخبارية من الإعلاميين المحليين و الأجانب عل مدار الساعة، كما نشرت المؤسسة فيلماً سلّط الضوء على الانتهاكات التي تعرض لها الصحفيون أثناء الحرب.

Source text - English Terms and Conditions
1. This Agreement is intended to create an Assured Shorthold Tenancy as defined in the Housing Act 1988, as amended by the Housing Act 1996, and the provisions for the recovery of possession by the Landlord in that Act apply accordingly. The Tenant understands that the Landlord will be entitled to recover possession of the Property at the end of the Term.
2. The Tenant’s obligations:
2.1 To pay the Rent at the times and in the manner set out above.
2.2 To pay and to keep the Landlord indemnified against all charges in respect of any electric, gas, water, sewage, internet and telephonic or televisual services used at or supplied to the Property and Council Tax or any similar property tax that might be charged in addition to or replacement of it during the Term.
2.3 To keep the items on the Inventory and the interior of the Property in a good and clean state and condition and not damage or injure the Property or the items on the Inventory (fair wear and tear excepted).
2.4 To yield up the Property with full vacant possession and the items on the Inventory at the end of the Term in the same clean state and condition it/they was/were in at the beginning of the Term (but the Tenant will not be responsible for fair wear and tear caused during normal use of the Property and the items on the Inventory or for any damage covered by and recoverable under the insurance policy effected by the Landlord under clause 3.2).
2.5 Not to make any alteration or addition to the Property and not without the prior written consent of the Landlord (consent not to be withheld unreasonably) do any redecoration or painting of the Property and to carry out any permitted redecoration or painting to a professional standard using such colours and materials as the landlord shall approve.
2.6 Not do anything on or at the Property which:
(a) may be or become a nuisance or annoyance to any other occupiers of the Property or owners or occupiers of adjoining or nearby premises
(b) is illegal or immoral
(c) may in any way affect the validity of the insurance of the Property and the items listed on the Inventory or cause an increase in the premium payable by the Landlord
(d) will cause any blockages in the drainage system and in the case of breach of this clause the Tenant to be responsible for the reasonable cost of such repair or other works which will be reasonably required.
3. The Landlord’s obligations:
3.1 The Landlord agrees that the Tenant may live in the Property without unreasonable interruption from the Landlord or any person rightfully claiming under or in trust for the Landlord.
3.2 To insure the Property and the items listed on the Inventory and use all reasonable efforts to arrange for any damage caused by an insured risk to be remedied as soon as possible and to provide a copy of the insurance policy to the Tenant if requested.
3.3 To keep in repair (where provided by the Landlord)
3.3.1 the structure and exterior of the Property (including drains, gutters and external pipes)
3.3.2 the installations at the Property for the supply of water, sewage, gas and electricity and for sanitation (including basins, sinks, baths and sanitary conveniences)
3.3.3 the installations at the Property for space heating and heating water
3.4 But the Landlord will not be required to
1.4.1 carry out works for which the Tenant is responsible by virtue of his duty to use the Property in a tenant-like manner
3.4.2 reinstate the Property in the case of damage or destruction if the insurers refuse to pay out the insurance money due to anything the Tenant has done or failed to do
3.4.3 rebuild or reinstate the Property in the case of destruction or damage of the Property by a risk not covered by the policy of insurance effected by the Landlord.

1. هذه الاتفاقية تهدف الى إقامة عقد إيجار مضمون لفترة قصيرة كما هو منصوص عليه في قانون الإسكان عام 1988، كما تم تعديله بقانون الإسكان لعام 1996، والأحكام المتعلقة بإعادة الحيازة بواسطة المالك في ذلك القانون الذي يطبق وفقا لذلك. يدرك المستأجر بأن المالك سيكون مخول لإعادة حيازة العقار في نهاية مدة العقد.
2. التزامات المستأجر:
2.1 أن يدفع الإيجار في الموعد وبالطريقة المنصوص عليها عالياً.

2.4 أن يسلم العقار مع التخلي الكامل عن الملكية والأشياء المدرجة في قائمة الموجودات في نهاية مدة العقد بنفس الحالة الجيدة والنظيفة التي كان/كانت عليها في بداية مدة العقد (لكن المستأجر لن يكون مسؤولاً عن التلف والبلى الذي حصل جراء الاستخدام العادي للعقار والاشياء المدرجة في قائمة الموجودات أو عن أي ضرر مغطي ومسترد بموجب بوليصة التأمين المفعلة بواسطة المالك بموجب البند 3.2).
2.5 عدم إجراء أية تغير أو اضافة للعقار وبدون موافقة مسبقة مكتوبة من المالك (موافقة لا يمكن حجبها دون سبب معقول) وعمل أي ديكور أو دهان في العقار والقيام بأي ديكور أو دهان مسموح به على مستوى مهني باستخدام الوان كما يتعين أن يوافق المالك.
2.6 لا يفعل أي شيء على أو في الملكية مما يلي:
(أ) ما قد يصبح مصدر إزعاج أو مضايقة لأي سكان آخرين في البناية أو مالكين أو سكان المباني المجاورة القريبة.
(ب) ما هو غير قانوني أو غير أخلاقي
(ج) ممكن بأي حال من الأحوال أن يؤثر على صلاحية التأمين على العقار وعلى الأشياء المدرجة في قائمة الموجودات أو يسبب زيادة في الأقساط التي يدفعها المالك
(د) أن يسبب أي انسداد في نظام الصرف الصحي وفي حالة خرق هذا البند فإن المستأجر مسؤول عن دفع تكلفة مالية معقولة لهذا الاصلاح أو أي أعمال أخرى والتي ستكون مطلوبة بصورة معقولة.
3. التزامات المالك:
3.1 يوافق المالك على إمكانية أن يسكن المستأجر في العقار بدون مقاطعة غير مبررة من المالك أو أي شخص يدعي الحق أو مؤتمن من قبل المالك.

The mind is like a factory. One of its jobs is to process life events so that they can become memories.
Most life events are of a size and nature that the factory can cope with:
But sometimes an event happens which is just too big or difficult to process in the normal way.
This might be because the event was too traumatic, and it might also be because the person experiencing it is too young to fully understand what is happening.
Because it isn’t properly processed, the event is prevented from becoming a normal memory. This means that it remains a current problem, rather than one that is in the past.
Current situations that remind us of the original trauma trigger us to have ‘flashbacks’. This means that we re-live and re-experience the emotions and physical sensations that were experienced at the time of the original trauma.
At those distressing times, we tend to press the factory’s STOP button. We also avoid situations which are likely to trigger these ‘flashback’ experiences. This can reinforce the lack of processing.
Effectively treating the traumatic event often needs to be done carefully.
By breaking the traumatic event into smaller pieces, our ‘factory’ can process them into memories that are not nearly so overwhelming.
This means exposing ourselves to thinking about and imagining the traumatic event, and/or gradually exposing ourselves to real situations which we normally avoid.
This will result in experiencing distress, but will also cause the factory to effectively process the traumatic event, which will greatly reduce the distress in the long-term.

Source text - English External Beam Radiotherapy (EBRT) for prostate cancer
This information is for patients who are going to receive EBRT (radiation given from a machine outside the body) for the treatment of prostate cancer.
This leaflet will explain:
• When radiotherapy is given
• Preparation for planning and treatment
• General information about the side effects of treatment
• Any side effects that may affect you
• Who to contact when you need advice
You may find it useful to read our booklet called ‘Radiotherapy’ which explains how radiotherapy works and what to expect when you attend.
When EBRT radiotherapy is given
• To treat cancer that has not spread outside the prostate gland (localised) as an alternative to surgery
• After surgery if the PSA levels start to rise targeting the prostate bed (the area where the prostate was)
• When the disease is, or likely to be, in other tissues in the pelvis, i.e. just outside the gland (locally advanced) or the pelvic lymph glands. (We often use the term “whole pelvis” when we treat the prostate and lymph glands)
Your doctor will explain why radiotherapy is recommended for you.
Preparation for planning and treatment
Before starting radiotherapy, you will have a CT scan which is used to design your radiotherapy (called planning). We recommend starting 10 days before your planning appointment and during the course of treatment, if possible, you should aim to drink 1.5 litres (3 pints) of fluid each day. If your fluid intake is normally more than this, continue as usual.
If you have an artificial hip(s) please alert the radiographer when you attend.
Some preparation before the scan is required; this usually takes about 35 minutes, followed by the CT scan, which takes about 10 minutes.
The preparation involves the use of a small enema to empty the rectum; this helps make the rectum smaller and moves it away from the area to be treated (target area).
We also ask you to drink some water, which, once it has reached the bladder, will help to move the bowel away from the target area.
When you arrive, the staff will go through everything with you. If you are worried about the preparation process, please raise any concerns with the planning staff.
Why is the preparation important?
• To ensure we hit the target area with each treatment
To achieve this, we need to replicate the position of the target area at every treatment so the x-ray beams hit the area. (The target area is later defined on the scan images. It includes the prostate area (and any structures identified as being involved by previous investigations) plus a small band of tissue next to the target used as a safety margin. The target area receives the highest dose of radiation and is individually designed according to your internal anatomy.
Note: The preparation procedure is an important first stage in ensuring the accuracy of treatment. In addition, 'high-tech’ procedures, using images generated from the planning scan and treatment unit, are also in place.
• To help reduce short and long term side effects
When the preparation process is achieved, the structures around the target area (rectum, bladder, and small bowel) are moved away, helping to reduce the radiation dose to these areas.
You will need to repeat the preparation before every treatment, so you will be asked to arrive ahead of your appointment time. You may not be keen to use the mini enema each day, but research at the centre has shown that the use of an enema is beneficial and that patients tolerate this procedure well.
When you start your treatment, it is important that you understand and follow the instructions we have given you. Do not hesitate to talk to your treatment staff about the preparation instructions/routine which is required immediately before your treatment, not for the whole of the day.
If you are taking diuretics (water tablets)
Diuretics are used to treat a number of conditions and work by removing excess fluid from the body through increasing the production and flow of urine (wee). They are usually taken in the morning. Consequently, some men who have a morning appointment may be concerned about the effect of the diuretic while travelling to the hospital. If so, it is OK to take the diuretic as soon as you can after your appointment. If you attend in the afternoon, take your diuretic as usual.
Do not reduce your intake of fluid immediately before attending as this affects the filling of your bladder. It is important for your general health to drink and eat normally.
Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Service
This member of staff is available to all patients (and/or carers) who have a diagnosis of prostate cancer. They provide a link between medical, nursing, radiotherapy and other members of the multi-professional team. Their aim is to assist with the continuity of care for patients who are receiving radiotherapy as an outpatient and for those who are not already linked with a Urology Nurse. Please talk to your radiographer if you feel this service would be useful for you.
General information about the side effects of radiotherapy treatment
Every patient is different and you may not have the same side effects as someone else. Your doctor will talk to you about the side effects that are likely to affect you. Most are temporary but some may last for weeks or months after your treatment has finished (see later). Long term or permanent effects can occur but are fairly rare. Often, these effects can be easily managed and may not have a marked effect on your life.
During your treatment, a radiographer or nurse will be able to answer any questions and deal with most of your problems. However, your doctor can also see you, if necessary. As you go through your treatment, how you feel and your ability to cope may change. It is important to let staff know how you feel so that we can give additional information, support and medicines etc.
Side effects during and immediately after treatment
Many patients have few or no side effects during their treatment and are able to carry on their normal activities. During your treatment, you can raise any concerns with your treatment staff. Clinic appointments with the On-treatment Review Advanced Practitioner will also be booked to discuss how you are managing and any side effects etc. It is important to let us know when your side effects start; we will give you medicines and advice to help you cope.
The usual pattern for the development of the short-term (acute) side effects is to gradually start about 5-10 days after the first treatment. They usually persist and worsen, the effects being most troublesome about 10 days after the last radiotherapy treatment. After this, the healing process begins. The side effects usually settle over the following 2-3 weeks but sometimes effects may persist for weeks or months.
Your bladder
The bladder and prostate are next to each other so it is impossible to avoid giving the bladder some radiation dose, which results in some inflammation (soreness). Consequently, you may feel the need to pass urine (wee) more often, get a burning sensation, a slowing of the stream of urine and an urgent need to pass urine.
You can help yourself by:
• Drinking more fluid; about 3 pints of fluid each day until the symptoms settle. Avoid large quantities of caffeine (tea, coffee, energy and cola-type drinks)
• If you wish, you may take alcohol in moderation, but stop if it causes irritation in your bladder
• Letting us know if you develop a burning sensation when you pass urine; if it is severe you may have an infection. If so, we will give you antibiotics and your treatment will carry on
Unable to empty your bladder during, or shortly after the course of radiotherapy?
This happens rarely. The urethra (see diagram on page four) passes through the prostate. Inflammation can cause it to be squeezed, making it difficult or impossible to pass urine. If you can’t pass urine at all, get help quickly otherwise this can make you very unwell. You may need a catheter for a short time. Your bowels
The treatment is likely to irritate your bowels. This symptom is more likely if you are having the whole pelvis treated.
You may have to open your bowels more often or occasionally they become stubborn. If your bowel habits change, advice on changing your diet may be appropriate as many people find this helpful. Meanwhile, carry on with your normal diet. A dietitian is available for you to talk to about your diet and we will arrange an appointment, if required.
You may also feel the urge to open your bowels, passing only small amounts or just mucus and wind. You may have discomfort and you may pass some blood.
You can help yourself by:
• Letting staff know about any symptoms so that they can give you advice and/or medicines
• Eating a good balanced diet
• Washing the area around your anus (opening of the bowel on the skin) gently and applying cream to soothe and moisturise, if necessary
Tiredness (Fatigue)
It is quite common to feel more tired and have less energy than usual during your course of radiotherapy and for several weeks after your treatment has finished. It may be useful to try to keep your normal routine but to reduce the amount of time that you spend on each task. It is important to rest when you feel the need to do so. If you have family and friends nearby, consider asking for, or accepting, offers of help. If you live alone, do only the tasks that are essential until you feel stronger.
Your pelvic skin and hair
Your skin may become slightly red, dry and itchy. If your skin becomes uncomfortable, ask the radiographer or nurse for advice.
You can help yourself by:
• Wearing loose fitting clothes made from natural fibres, such as cotton, to allow the air to circulate around the pelvic area
• Washing the area very gently in lukewarm water with a mild, unperfumed soap, e.g. baby soap. A shower is ideal, patting the area dry with a soft towel. Do not rub
• Only applying creams recommended by your radiographer, nurse or doctor
Temporary thinning or loss of pelvic hair can happen. The loss of pubic hair is most likely to be noticed.
Fertility & Contraception
Radiotherapy to the pelvic area is known to affect the reproductive organs. Retaining your fertility after completion of radiotherapy may or may not be important to you. If required, you will be referred to a local specialist centre for further advice and information. It is important to be referred before starting your radiotherapy.
It is not safe to presume that radiotherapy will make you infertile.
If you are sexually active and conception is a possibility, it is important to use contraception during, and after, your course of radiotherapy. If relevant, talk to your oncologist about when it is safe to stop the use of contraception.
You can continue with sexual activity while you are having radiotherapy. However, the side effects of radiotherapy can cause temporary discomfort in the pelvic area. You may find that intercourse is uncomfortable or you have no desire for sex. If so, try to talk to your partner and explain how you feel.
Inflammation may cause pain or discomfort when you ejaculate. Once treatment has finished, the inflammation and pain will settle.
Possible long term or permanent side effects of radiotherapy
Radiotherapy can cause long-term changes to the normal tissues in your pelvis. However, many people do not develop long-term side effects. They may appear months or years after treatment and may not have a marked effect on your life. If you develop any health problems that you suspect may be related to your radiotherapy, you should discuss this possibility with your GP. If necessary, your GP can refer you to specialist services, further investigations and/or appointment with your oncology doctor.

We will try to give you notice of these appointments, all appointments are however necessary to ensure you have all the help that you may be or are entitled to.
We may accompany you to initial appointments at doctors, dentists and also schools that you may need to attend, this is to assist you to understand how the local school system works and their expectations of you, for example getting the children to school on time.
Our role is to ensure you are aware of what is expected of you, so we may assist you at first, for example making a telephone call, we hope to teach you to do these things yourselves.
We will work with you to do everything possible to make sure that you are not hurt, bullied or harmed in any way.
Our staff and volunteers will treat you with respect and consideration. We expect you to treat staff, volunteers with respect and consideration too.

for Visitors
Welcome to the Academy. Visitors bring worthwhile experiences to our students, which we appreciate.
This leaflet provides some guidance on working safely with our students and tells you what to do if you have a concern about a student. Please read it carefully and do not hesitate to ask if you require any further information.
Keeping Children Safe
We can all play a part in keeping children safe whilst working on or visiting the academy site. This is whether you are directly employed by the academy, or working as a contractor or sub-contractor, or a volunteer.
Keeping Ourselves Safe
We must also take steps to keep ourselves safe. Our actions can sometimes be perceived in a way that was not intended. We want to promote safe working practices for everyone on the academy site, whatever your role.
To keep yourself safe please follow these instructions:
Do ...
Do sign in and wear your lanyard/visitor’s badge at all times.
Do be aware that verbal interaction with students may be interpreted by them as offensive or as harassment. Even if this was not your intention.
Do report any unacceptable behaviour from a student.
Do be aware that contact made outside of the academy environment as a result of you coming into contact with a student whilst you are on the academy site, may have an impact on your employment.
Do Not ...
Do not instigate verbal or physical contact with students (this applies both on and off site) unless it is appropriate and a part of an agreed reason for your visit.
Do not respond to verbal or physical contact from students. If this occurs, or you have any concerns about student behaviour, then report it to the member of academy staff who is working with you.
Do not give any personal information to any student, for example your name, address, telephone or mobile number, email address or personal websites.
Do not accept or respond to a student attempting to give you personal information, for example their name, address, telephone or mobile number, email address or personal websites.
Do not accept physical or verbal abuse from a student. DO NOT respond yourself, but report it immediately to a senior member of staff.
Do not be in an unsupervised one to one situation with a student.

Source text - English What is condensation?
There is always moisture in the air even if you cannot see it. Condensation occurs when moisture comes into contact with a cold surface and water droplets form, like what happens to your bathroom mirror or windows.
When this happens on your window, the glass mists up and drops of water run down the window. When it happens on a wall, the wall soaks up the moisture and becomes damp. Mould could then grow on the damp areas.
Heat up!
Condensation and mould often form in a different place to where moist air comes from. For example, moisture might come from your kitchen but mould might occur in any spare bedroom if it is not used very often. This can be because this room is not usually heated. Try heating all rooms regularly. It is better to heat the whole home to
a lower temperature than one room to a higher temperature.
Where can condensation happen?
Condensation can appear on any surface that is cold enough.
It usually occurs in places where there is little air movement, such as in corners, behind large pieces of furniture and sometimes in wardrobes.
It often appears around windows and on outside walls.
Your body produces moisture all the time, when you breathe and perspire. This is more noticeable when you do exercise and overheat. We also put lots of moisture into the air when we take a bath or shower, cook or wash the dishes.
Moisture is also produced when we
dry clothes indoors or use an unvented tumble dryer.
Condensation happens mainly on the cool parts of walls but particularly on outside walls where there is not much air movement. It often appears as a dark patch in corners near the skirting and on the ceiling. The side walls of windows are often affected as they can be even colder.
Areas with poor ventilation can be prone to condensation. This could be behind furniture, particularly wardrobes and beds if they have been placed against an outside wall. Condensation can happen in any room but is most likely to occur in your bedrooms and hallway as they are cooler.
