I'm a creative writer and literary translator with numerous stories and essays published in online journals, print journals, and anthologies, as well as two published novels: USSR, Diary of a Perestroika Kid by Vladimir Kozlov (Fiction Advocate, 2014) and Wake In Winter by Nadezhda Belenkaya (Amazon Crossing, forthcoming Nov. 2016). I am looking for opportunities to expand into commercial translation and welcome inquiries.
As a translator I strive to create the most appropriate register and style in English to match that of the original text. Accuracy is always my primary concern, but I enjoy those times when literal meaning must be reworked in order to create a figuratively more exact translation. I especially like translating slang, dialect, and contemporary speech into comparable English that's lively and authentic.
I have always translated Russian to English, but I have some experience with Ukrainian and would welcome opportunities to explore translating from that language. |
