Source text - English The costs of operation and maintenance of passenger car, unless otherwise specified in the article 1.1., shall be borne by the employer.
The employee shall use the passenger car concerned also for private purposes.
Possibility to use the company car for private purposes is a non-cash income (non-monetary benefit) subject to tax. As the law stands, this means that for each calendar month, 1% German retail price of the vehicle is subject to the employee´s payroll tax and the employer will deduct the respective amount from employee´s monthly salary.
Translation - Czech Náklady na provoz a údržbu osobního vozu nese zaměstnavatel, pakliže není v oddílu 1.1 určeno jinak.
Zaměstnanec má nárok užívat osobní vůz rovněž k soukromým účelům.
Nárok na užívání firemního vozu k soukromým účelům je nepeněžním plněním (zaměstnaneckým benefitem) podléhajícím zdanění. V souladu s platnou právní úpravou tak zaměstnanci každý kalendářní měsíc vzniká daňová povinnost ve výši jednoho procenta z maloobchodní ceny vozu v Německu. Tuto daň odvádí zaměstnavatel srážkou ze mzdy.

Source text - English I am not sure I attach much weight to criticism from ineffectual mutton-like Asquith – a man who repeatedly shafted Churchill, and who spent cabinet meetings writing pathetic love letters to Venetia Stanley, and who was so drunk that he often had to get Churchill to take over for him. Churchill’s career covered a huge chunk of British history. He held high office more or less continuously from 1905 to 1922 – a seventeen-year stretch that comfortably eclipses most modern politicians: and yet that was only his first period – before he had even become Chancellor, let alone Prime Minister.

Source text - Czech Spojit do jednoho programu elektronickou Gesang der Jünglinge (1955–56) s Gruppen (1957) pro tři orchestry je bez precedentu, i když hudebně na sebe tato díla navazují. Ve čtyřkanálovém Gesang der Jünglinge totiž Stockhausen poprvé uplatnil a vyzkoušel myšlenku hudby v prostoru, kterou pak radikálně použil v Gruppen.
Jen velmi zřídkakdy (a poprvé v Praze!) lze slyšet kompletní provedení mistrovského díla Atlas Eclipticalis (1961) Johna Cage pro 86 sólistů simultánně s klavírním sólem Winter Music (1960) a to tak, jak tyto dvě skladby prováděl Cage s pianistou Davidem Tudorem. V duchu koncepce Johna Cage též uslyšíme uvnitř jeho hudby Hornickou kapelu ze Stonavy.
Translation - English Featuring Gruppen (1957) and the electronic piece Gesang der Jünglinge (1955-56) back-to-back is an unprecedented choice. There is, however, musical continuity between the two compositions: the quadrophonic Gesang der Jünglinge saw Stockhausen testing and employing, for the first time, the idea of “music in space” that would find its radical expression in Gruppen.
Prague audience will also get its first opportunity to attend a rare simultaneous performance of John Cage’s Atlas Eclipticalis (1961) for 86 soloists and his Winter Music (1960) for solo piano, the way the composer himself used to perform the combination with the pianist David Tudor. In keeping with Cage’s concept, his music will also feature an embedded performance by Stonava Miners Brass Band.

For well over a decade now, I have been, first and foremost, a literary translator, working on novels and non-fiction by authors ranging from Boris Johnson through William Gibson to Nelson DeMille (see my CV for the full list of ca. 35 books).
Since 2017, I have also been providing subtitles and dubbing translations for HBO (through its primary local vendor, SDI Media Czech).
To expand my range, I have also taken a two-semester course of legal English at the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague and can provide both CZ-ENG and ENG-CZ translations in the field.
As an English Studies major, I feel especially confident translating texts that concern social sciences, literature and other arts, including music (I regularly provide translations for Ostrava Center for New Music); at the same time, however, I have considerable experience translating marketing texts including case studies, campaign propositions or brand guides.
In addition to translation, I am also an experienced editor/proofreader who can help you make sure that your texts remain consistent and run smoothly.
