Spanish to English: The Influence of Recreational Activities on the Development of Children Detailed field: Education / Pedagogy
Translation - English The present researched content aims to make known the influence that recreational activities have on the social-emotional development of a child in his or her first year of basic education. The information is drawn from a situational analysis of children during the learning process to verify some flaws in the participation and internalization of learning issues. The problem presents itself in educational institutions that show an evident lack of recreational activities as alternatives to learning. This is due to some teachers who disregard them as unimportant and consider them a waste of time, not knowing how to utilize recreational activities or how to control the children’s behavior upon implementing them. They don’t take into consideration that recreational activities strengthen intellectual development and, at the same time, encourage social interaction, allowing the child to better his or her relationship with other students and with his or herself. It should be stressed that recreational activities help develop cognitive and motor skills and especially influence their behaviors, such as happiness and sadness, among others. The foundation of this theoretical framework is based on recreational activities allowing a child to express his or her feelings and gain knowledge through real life experiences, as illustrated by Jean Piaget, who considers that children strengthen their knowledge every time they have an experience and that it is one of the most effective alternatives to a lasting education in a child’s conscious. In addition, the elaboration of the methodology is based on an analysis of facts obtained by observations similar to this survey, making it a reliable source for this investigation, along with completing the objectives of the proposed questions. It is considered that the current proposal will allow teaching processes to improve through the application of recreational activities that develop the social and emotional area of children. For this reason, recreational activities have become a major lynchpin in the cognitive and social development of children, allowing them to interact with others, strengthening different social skills such as solidarity, respect, working as a team, allowing them to better love themselves, and giving them confidence and security in everything they are involved.
