Spanish to English: Ecografías Abdominales/Abdominal Ultrasounds General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical (general)

One in 10 Americans suffer from some kind of liver disease, according to the American Liver Foundation. However, many people are not aware of the fact that they're suffering said disease, partly because they usually display scarce symptoms.
Throughout November, Baptist Health will be offering abdominal ultrasounds with an optional liver elastography for $99. This type of quick, painless, and non-invasive analysis can be useful in the diagnosis of some liver diseases, including fatty liver and liver fibrosis. An early and more precise diagnosis can save lives and help determine necessary measures, such as lifestyle changes ¬–quit drinking alcoholic beverages or lose weight–, drug therapies, or surgeries.
English to Spanish: Hashimoto’s thyroiditis / Tiroiditis de Hashimoto General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical (general)
Source text - English Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease in which the thyroid gland is attacked by a variety of cell -and antibody-mediated immune processes, causing primary hypothyroidism. It was the first disease to be recognized as an autoimmune disease. It was first described by the Japanese specialist Hakaru Hashimoto in a paper published in Germany in 1912.
There are many symptoms that are attributed to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Hashimoto’s disease. The most common symptoms include the following: fatigue, weight gain, pale or puffy face, feeling cold, joint and muscle pain, constipation, dry and thinning hair, heavy menstrual flow or irregular periods, depression, panic disorder, a slowed heart rate, and problems getting pregnant and maintaining pregnancy.
Hashimoto’s disease is about seven times more common in women than in men. It can occur in teens and young women, but more commonly shows up in middle age, particularly for men. People who develop Hashimoto’s disease often have family members who have thyroid or other autoimmune diseases, and sometimes have other autoimmune diseases themselves.
The thyroid gland may become firm, large, and lobulated in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, but changes in the thyroid can also be nonpalpable. Enlargement of the thyroid is due to lymphocytic infiltration and fibrosis rather than tissue hypertrophy.
Spanish to English: La historia de Hollywood / Hollywood's history General field: Other Detailed field: History

It wasn’t until 1903 that it became a municipality, and until 1910 that its councilors voted in favor of the integration of Los Angeles, mainly to dispose of enough water through the city’s supply network.
The settlement was founded in 1857. Though it’s formed by the words holly and wood, its name stems from a homonymous ranch inhabited by the family of a property developer. Moreover, the ranch was called Hollywood because the developer’s wife knew a married couple whose home was named that way.
By the end of the XIX century, Thomas Alva Edison practically monopolized the movie industry. Therefore, as a consequence of the patents war (1897), movie producers, that until then were settled between New York and New Jersey, decided to move to California to continue their recordings there and avoid paying rates that they considered abusive. Besides, the days there were sunnier and longer, something they found beneficial (despite the fact that electricity already existed, the movie studios depended on natural lighting at the moment of recording).
Besides being a neighborhood of Los Angeles, the term Hollywood also defines, generically, the movie and TV industry rooted in Southern California.
The first studio in the Hollywood area was founded in 1911 and, during the same year, other fifteen other studios were established there. Since then, the Hollywood district evolved to the point of turning into a Mecca for the world cinema.
