Bio
I started to work as a translator/interpreter in the 80s. It was more by accident than volontary. But as I did it so well (I always was pretty good at languages and also with people) I decided to go on with it. Inbetween I worked in Brussels with VW in the 90s with a project with Seat/Centro Técnico in Martorell/Barcelona. Or as a freelancer. My last work was with La Fura Dels Baus, where I got the skills to translate theater plays, scripts, etc. I also translated into Spanish, even I don't like so much not translating into my native language. It also worked out, but only because it was used for internal matters....
My first "official" translation was by the actress/writer Angels Aymar, "Tres homes esperen", which I translated from Català into German (look at the sample). Now I'm working on a second play of the same writer.
I think my greatest problem are the CAT-tools. As I started with a type-writer, later changed to a PC, I once tried a translation program, but it never convinced me. I prefer to work day and night to get the dead-line. I never knew to work different as I did in the "early days".
Now it's more than 20 years I dedicated my life to the languages. And you know what? I still love it! Even without a CAT-tool.... Or because?
