As a graduate of English literature and qualified English teacher, my knowledge of the language and the art of writing goes beyond that of just a 'native' speaker. After moving to Istanbul in 2009, I took it upon myself to learn Turkish as quickly and as thoroughly as possible. Of course, this will be a life-long task, but I soon became fluent in the language, and given my expertise in English, I was able to discern the differences and similarities between between the two languages. This naturally lead me to become interested in translation, and I quickly realised that I not only thoroughly enjoy the work, but that my skill set is incredibly well-suited to it too. In fact, I was driven to establish my own translation company here in Istanbul, Transnate ( Given that I live most of my life in Turkish (I have a Turkish partner, Turkish clients, do a substantial amount of reading in Turkish, etc.), I am continuously honing and developing my skills, and am able to pass on the resulting benefits to my clients.

I specialise in a range of translation: marketing/promotional copy, websites, literature, manuals, contracts, magazine/newspaper articles and academic papers, among others. I am particularly interested in translating marketing copy and making sure my client's message is not lost, confused or detracted from by poor translation.

There are a lot of translators in this language pair, but very few native English speakers. Unfortunately, this drastically reduces the quality of translations in the market; the quality of 99% translations I see here in Turkey is somewhere between fair and awful. My translations are a guarantee of quality in a market flooded with mediocrity.

PLEASE NOTE - I do not carry out EN>TR translations myself. I work with a very talented native Turkish translator who carries out my EN>TR translations.
