Source text - English 6.2. Visual field testing
Contrast sensitivity of a healthy eye is the highest in the center of the retina, in the fovea centralis, and decreases progressively towards the visual field periphery. Areas where contrast sensitivity is low or absent are called scotomas. Absolute scotoma is an area of lost vision within the visual field, whereas relative scotomas is where visual sensitivity within the visual field is restricted. Each healthy eye has one morphological blind spot. This is the place where the optic nerve passes through the optic disc, the area where no light-detecting photoreceptor cells are present. The blind spot is located 12.5° -18.5° temporally (towards the temple). Contrast sensitivity can be illustrated on a 3-D map, displaying the Hill of Vision (HoV). The higher the HoV, the higher the contrast sensitivity at a particular point of the map.
6.3. Visual field testing methods
There are two basic types of visual field tests: kinetic perimetry and static perimetry.
Kinetic perimetry uses a moving stimulus of constant brightness (intensity). While changing its position within the visual field at a constant speed, the stimulus at some point exceeds the contrast sensitivity threshold. The point where the contrast sensitivity threshold is reached determines the contrast sensitivity of the tested eye. Once several points of this kind are detected, they are connected with a contour line. This is the so-called isopter, a line connecting points of equal retinal sensitivity to a contrast stimulus in the visual field. The hill of vision (HoV) can be reproduced from isopters drawn for several contrast sensitivities.
Static perimetry is where stimuli of different brightness (intensity) are shown at specific points throughout the visual field, one at a time. By displaying stimuli of different brightness levels at particular points, the brightness (contrast) threshold can be determined that defines the transition from not-seen to seen. This value determines the contrast sensitivity of the tested eye at the particular point and directly refers the HoV height at this particular point.
9.2.4. Selecting the Reliability Tests
Reliability tests running in parallel with the visual field test can be set with the Reliability switches.

H-K – Heijl–Krakau blind spot monitoring
SF – short-time fluctuation in the test results
FPOZ – monitoring false positive results (reaction in absence of stimuli) during the test
FNEG – monitoring false negative results (no reaction to stimuli) during the test

Kontrastní citlivost zdravého oka je nejvyšší v centru sítnice, ve fovea centralis a postupně klesá směrem k periferii zorného pole. Místa, v nichž je nízká nebo dokonce žádná kontrastní citlivost se nazývají skotomy. Absolutní skotom je prostor ztraceného vidění bez zorného pole, zatímco o relativním skotomu mluvíme, když je omezená zraková citlivost v oblasti zorného pole. Každé zdravé oko má jeden morfologický slepý bod. To je místo, kde optický nerv míjí slepou skvrnu – místo, kde nejsou přítomny žádné fotoreceptory detekující světlo. Slepá skvrna je umístěna 12.5° -18.5° temporálně (směrem ke spánku). Kontrastní citlivost může být ilustrována na 3D mapě, zobrazující kopec vidění - Hill of Vision (HoV). Čím vyšší je HoV, tím vyšší je kontrastní citlivost v konkrétním bodě na mapě.
6.3. Metody vyšetřování zorného pole
Existují dva základní typy vyšetření zorného pole: kinetická perimetrie a statická perimetrie.
Kinetická perimetrie využívá pohybující se stimuly s konstantní světlostí (intenzitou). Zatímco se mění jejich pozice směrem k zornému poli konstantní rychlostí, stimul v nějakém bodě dosáhne prahu kontrastní citlivosti. Bod, ve kterém kontrastní citlivost dosáhne vrcholu, determinuje kontrastní citlivost testovaného oka. Jakmile je několik bodů tohoto typu zaznamenáno, jsou spojeny do jedné křivky. Toto je takzvaná izoptéra, linie spojených bodů totožné retinální citlivosti ke kontrastnímu stimulu v zorném poli. Kopec vidění (HoV) může být pak reprodukován podle izopter vyvozených z několika kontrastních citlivostí.
Statická perimetrie je založena na tom, že stimuly různé světlosti (intenzity) jsou zobrazeny v určitých bodech napříč zorného pole, jeden po druhém. Zobrazením stimulu různé světelné intenzity v konkrétních bodech může být přesně určen práh světlosti (kontrastu), který definuje přechod z neviditelného na viditelné. Tato hodnota určuje kontrastní citlivost testovaného oka v konkrétním bodě, která přímo odpovídá hodnotě HoV v tomto konkrétním bodě.
9.2.4. Výběr zkoušky spolehlivosti (The Reliability Test)
Zkoušky spolehlivosti běžící paralelně s vyšetřením zorného pole mohou být nastaveny s různými spínači spolehlivosti.
Gaze (Sledování pohledu) – sledování pohybu zornice na video snímku z oční kamery.
H-K – Heijl–Krakau monitorování slepého bodu
SF – krátkodobé kolísání ve výsledcích vyšetření (Short-time Fluctuation)
FPOZ – monitorování falešně-pozitivních výsledků (reakce při absenci stimulů) během testu
FNEG – monitorování falešně-negativních výsledků (žádná reakce na stimuly) během testu

I have a master's degree from the University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, in Teaching English and German. After my graduation, I lived for 4 years in the UK where I attained the UK Qualified Teacher Status and worked as an EAL Teacher (English as an Additional Language) at secondary schools across London. During my stay in London, I have also completed a short-term course ‘Teaching Maths at Secondary Schools’ at the University of East London, UK.
Apart from this, I possess a secondary school leaving certificate in civil engineering (site utilities). Thanks to this, I feel confident in translating even challenging technical terms as well (in the fields of machinery, civil engineering, mechanics, and in other related fields). This 4-year long study helped me to ensure that the terms I choose are highly accurate and commonly used in the given field.

When starting a new translation project, I always strive to understand the source text perfectly. Then, I usually do a thorough research in the given field, reading through similar texts in the target language, or even consulting challenging terminology with the respective experts in the given field. In this way, I can ensure the resulting text is of top-notch quality, which means that it sounds natural and is highly understandable for the target audience.
MOST RECENT PROJECTS
One of the last projects I worked on was translation (from English to Czech) of a user’s guide to a perimeter (PTS 920) - a diagnostic instrument designed for visual field testing in ophthalmology.
I have recently embarked on software translation and localization as well. I feel that this field of translation matches perfectly with my 5-year long experience from IT/TELCO companies, and with my basic programming skills (HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript). Owing to this, and combined with my passion for IT (new software/hardware products and PC games), I can ensure the software I translate always reads easily in the target language.
