French to English: Post Conflict Burundian Economy Detailed field: Economics
Source text - French 1.
Translation - English 1. Gross Domestic Product: The low productivity of the agricultural sector, which employs close to 90% of the population, resulting from the demographic concentration in less fertile areas, archaic methods of land management and persistent insecurity in the rural areas, explains the poor performance recorded at the GDP level, whose rate stood at 2.2% on average over the 2002-2005 period. With the launching of the program (2004-2007), supported by the FRPC of the IMF, in January 2004, growth nevertheless hit 4.8% in 2004, surpassing by 1/2 a point the program's objective. Reforms undertaken, notably with regards the liberalization of the coffee sector, as well as high demand linked to the presence in the country of peace keeping troops, are among the factors that underlie this performance. However, Burundi has witnessed severe drought in the North of the country, which has led to a drastic drop in agricultural sector production of close to 80%, including that of coffee.
French to English: Infant Vaccination Program in the DRC Detailed field: Medical: Health Care
a. Les couvertures vaccinales brutes (carte ou histoire) obtenues sont généralement satisfaisantes; tandisque les doses validées (taux de couverture) sont en général plus faibles (sauf pour le BCG), avec des différences plus marquées au penta3 et au VAR;
Translation - English The current complete long term plan (PPAC) of the PEV which covers the 2012-2016 period falls within the period covered by the PNDS tool from which it draws its basis.
As concerns the PEV, the situational analysis has enabled the identification of the following points.
a. Obtained gross vaccination covers (card or history) are generally satisfactory; while validated doses (coverage rates) are on the whole low (except for BCG), with more visible differences at penta3 and VAR;
These covers are also characterized by (i) substantial rates of abandonment for infant vaccinations (7% for BCG-VAR and 9% for Penta1-3).
b. At the particular level of logistics, the minimum rates of appreciation criteria for efficient vaccine management, essential conditions for quality guarantee of vaccines administered to Congolese children have, on the whole, not been attained.
English to French: L'énergie ancestrale General field: Art/Literary
Source text - English What makes us human? More than words and thoughts, there is one energy that exceeds all others. An energy that has inspired most of Earth's poetry and music. An energy in front of which the inexplicable and total war within us has no arms. An energy that makes and breaks people, empires and religions. An energy that burns through love and sin, and without which we would not exist. From mystifying love affairs, to orgies worthy of Roman Emperors, from passions that transpire our desires and throw us against fiery walls, to bodies laying bare in a mystical haze. In a world in which violence is all around us, yet we find ourselves having to hide while making love, the only revolution worth fighting and tearing down all barriers for is the Revolution of Love. A mystifying love, consumed without limits. From taboo affairs hidden from society's critical eye to public love affairs adored by an entire world, our dreams all lead us to love through one form or another. The Ancestral Energy that results from our fusion is eternal. Beyond anything that we can perceive as real and physical we find ourselves, again and again, naked, lightly or firmly touching ourselves or each other, playing through the night, explosively unloading our inner being while discovering newer and newer pleasures. In discovering such pleasures we are often aided by titillating aphrodisiacs and potions that make our pleasure even more decadent and uplifting.
