Initial qualifications - teacher of English and German. One year teaching followed by a couple of years of translation at Scientific Research Institutes. Then years of relaxation in Dombai - North Caucasus in the capacity of interpreter-guide and ski instructor. But life is tough and we have to learn new tricks to keep up, and I learned them at the best possible post- graduate professional Russian school (1992-1993)- MISTI - Moscow International School of Translation and Interpreting. It opened the doors to many lucrative opportunities, I chose oil industry working for different JVs for several years.
Another turn of the wheel of fortune put me where I am now - the other end of the world. Translation-wise it is more interesting and versatile - legal, agricultural, educational, computing, you name it... - I have to do the job required and I am doing my best.
At the agency I work for they say I have a good feel of both languages (English and Russian) and good intuition. I don't know, I just like translating and appreciate other translators' good work (I love ProZ community!). Anyway, I am not trying to sell myself, I am happy with the jobs I have every now and then. However, if anybody would like to offer me something to translate I will be happy to discuss the terms. |
