il progetto di ristrutturazione di due grandi vasche da fiori in un ampia terrazza nel centro storico di una cittadina emiliana, prende le pennellate di colori caldi come fonte di ispirazione per la nuova disposizione e scelta delle piante . La scelta della vegetazione e' caduta su molte perenni e graminacee con fioritura massima in primavera e autunno e minima in estate per l'uso saltuario dei proprietari. La piantumazione punta ad una alternanza di lunghe striscie cromatiche di varie altezze con elementi isolati verticali che interrompono le stesse quasi a richiamare i campanili che circoscrivono il contesto urbano.
02 melting down_Amsterdam NEDERLAND
il tetto giardino, che si trova nel quartiere hip (de Pijp) della citta',e' strettamente collegato al progetto di interni dell'appartamento ad esso sottostante quasi come un tessuto rigato di verde che avvolge le diverse parti della casa dalla disposizione delle vasche di verde a quella dell'arredo inerno passando per la parete/tenda sul lato che affaccia sulla strada.
per questo giardino sono state progettate delle vasche (planters) di alluminio di diverse dimensioni e disposte parallelamente e sfalsate come a creare diversi ambienti con funzioni differenti. La vegetazione e' praticamente una collezione di graminacee di diverse tonalita di gialli verdi e bianchi con qualche punto isolato di fioritura bianca e rosa pallido (pale) per spezzare durante l'anno l'uniformita delle graminacee.
03 stone oasis_Pescaglia (LU) ITALY
il progetto ruota attorno all'unicita' della Windmill palm (Trachycarpus fortunei) presente in questo giardino privato adiacente a un palazzo signorile del 1400.
nella ristrutturazione del palazzo e del giardino si e' cercato di riportare alla luce e al suo splendore la pietra locale utilizzata nella costruzione di ogni elemento architettonico, nel giardino appunto, su un lato, vi e' un muro terrapieno alto 8m circa che e' stato completamente pulito come la facciata della abitazione,a segure per la pavimentazione si e' optato per la stesso tipo di pietra tale da creare una scatola monumentale che avvolge l'unico elemento naturale. Un elemento secondario che e' stato introdotto e' un gruppo di erbe officinali disposte attorno alla palma data la predilezione del proprietario per l'arte della cucina.
04 sailing garden_Newport (Isle of Wight) UNITED KINGDOM
questo giardino prende il nome dallo sport della barca a vela e ne prende ispirazione nel suo design proprio per la passione e l'attivita' costante dei proprietari in questo sport. Ogni singolo elemento del giardino e' collegato alla vela, dalla pavimentazione al trattamento della staccionata perimetrale. La scelta delle piante e' partita dalla presenza massiva di una perenne (Sedum matrona) e la preferenza della proprietaria per il colore rosso. per l'uso differente dei proprietari si e' deciso di concentrare la vegetazione sui due lati del giardino lasciando uno spazio aperto centrale.
05 succulent boxes_Arucas,Las Palmas (isle of Gran Canaria) SPAIN
la commessa di progetto e' composta da due patio e un tetto giardino con piscina annessa che saranno gli spazi verdi all'aperto di un piccolo hotel esclusivo nel centro storico di un paese periferico alla capitale. Nella vegetazione locale e' riconoscibile la continua presenza di piante succulenti autoctone e non. Si e' pensato cosi di enfatizzare questo elemento vegetale e di ripeterlo e riproporlo nei tre ambienti in diverse scale e composizioni. I tre spazi hanno differenti funzioni che scandiscono e accompagnano la permanenza nell'hotel. il primo patio adibito alle colazioni e' creato da diversi Cactus di varie altezze con variazioni di forma struttura e colore disposti in combinazioni in vasi-colonna (planters?)a forma quadrata rivestiti da assi di legno. il secondo patio e' luogo di filtro per accedere a varie stanze da letto e al tetto giardino, si e' deciso per un grande contenitore con seduta integrata rivestito in legno che accogliesse differenti piante succulenti e palme autoctone quasi a creare un area di sosta, una lounge. Il terzo spazio, il tetto giardino, e' definito dalla presenza di due vasche d'acqua, la piscina incassata nella muratura massiccia dell' hotel e un piccolo specchio d'acqua in una zona appartata sul tetto e una grande piattaforma di legno (solarium) perforata da piccole forature quadrate contenete ciascuna una singola pianta grassa quasi a definire la postazione di relax personale di ogni singolo ospite dell'hotel.
06 magister rosae_Mantova ITALY
il terrazzo della proprietaria di questo piccolo terrazzo nel cuore del centro storico di Mantova, dove gestisce un delizioso bed and breakfast (antica dimora di Manto),e' unicamente adornato da rose: piccole rose,rose rampicanti, e cespugli (shrubs? ) la passione e la devozione a questio fiore strettamente legato a Maria Vergine, ha portato ad utilizzare lo splendido fiore come elemento di decorazione per i due vasconi di acciaio brunito (coated steel) che contengono le preziose rose della cliente. alla base delle vasche c'e' l'impianto d'illuminazione integrato definito da un pattern decorativo, ogni elemento di questo pattern e' composto da 50 perforazioni circolari che richiamano al numero ricorrente nel rosario .
07 B/W mondrian_Amsterdam NEDERLAND
il tetto giardino e' la parte terminale di una ristrutturazione compiuta dallo studio VENS come negli interni e' stato utilizzato il bianco e il nero per le partizioni che definiscono gli interni anche negli spazi esterni e' stato proposto al cliente la stessa gamma di colori applicata a una disposizione di vasche di acciaio che trae ispirazione da alcuni quadri di mondrian con le sue line spezzate che creano funzionalita' e continuita con l'arredo esistente. le vasche progettate su misura si basano sulla modulazione della ritmicita' differente della pavimentazione rispettandone fedelmente la regola.
Translation - English 01 touch of colour_Carpi (MO) ITALY
This restoration of two large flower tubs on a sizeable terrace in the historic centre of a town of the Emilia region of Italy, is inspired by a palette of warm colours in the final choice of plants and their arrangement. The choice of vegetation includes several perennials and grasses with peak flowering seasons in spring and autumn, allowing for the sporadic use by the owners during the summer. Planting alternates in long chromatic strips with varying heights and with isolated vertical elements interrupting them evoking the towers that surround the urban context.
02 melting down_Amsterdam NEDERLAND
The roof garden located in the hip (de Pijp) neighbourhood of the city is closely connected to the interior design of the apartment below, as if it were like a green striped fabric wrapping the different parts of the house, from the arrangement of planters to the interior furnishings, through the wall/tent on the side facing the street.
Aluminium planters of varying dimensions have been designed for this garden and have then been arranged in parallel or staggered to create different areas with different functions. The vegetation is a collection of grasses of varying shades of yellow, green and white with a few isolated points of blossoming white and pale pink to break up the uniformity of the grasses during the year.
03 stone oasis_Pescaglia (LU) ITALY
The project revolves around the uniqueness of the Windmill Palm (Trachycarpus Fortunei) found in this private garden attached to a refined 15th century residential building.
The renovation of the building and the garden has attempted to bring back to its former splendour the local stone used in the construction of all the architectural elements. A 8m high retaining wall enclosing one side of the garden was thoroughly cleaned as was the front of the house, and the same type of stone was chosen for the flooring, in order to create a box that wraps around the only monumental natural element. A secondary element was introduced in the form of a group of herbs arranged around the palm given the passion of the owner for the art of cooking.
04 sailing garden_Newport (Isle of Wight) UNITED KINGDOM
This garden takes its name and it is inspired in its design by the sport of sailing because of its owners' passion for this sport. Every single element of the garden is connected to sailing, from the flooring to the treatment of the perimeter fence. The choice of plants is based on the massive presence of a perennial (Sedum Matrona) and the preference of the owners for the colour red. It was decided to concentrate the vegetation on both sides of the garden, leaving an open central area, allowing the owners to use this space in a number of different ways.
05 succulent boxes_Arucas,Las Palmas (Isle of Gran Canaria) SPAIN
The commission consists of two patios and a roof garden with a swimming pool annexed to the green open spaces of an exclusive small hotel in the historic centre of a village near the capital. The local vegetation is characterized by the presence of native and non-native succulent plants . The idea here is to emphasize this natural element and to repeat it by introducing it again in the three separate environments in different scales and compositions. The three areas have different uses that mark and accompany one's stay at the hotel. The first patio, used for breakfast, is created by different cacti of varying heights with different shapes, textures and colours arranged in a combination of square column planters covered by wooden planks. The second patio is an area used as a filter to access various bedrooms and the roof garden. The choice here fell on a large container with a built-in seat covered with wood holding different succulent plants and native palms, so as to create a staging area, a lounge. The third space, the roof garden, is defined by the presence of two water tanks, a swimming pool embedded in the substantial masonry of the hotel and a small body of water in a secluded area on the roof, and a large wooden deck solarium perforated with small holes, with each square containing a single succulent plant, almost defining the personal relaxation area of each guest.
06 magister rosae_Mantova ITALY
This small terrace in the heart of the historic centre of Mantua, belongs to the owner and manager of “Antica Dimora di Manto”, a delightful Bed and Breakfast. The terrace is solely adorned with roses: small roses, climbing roses, and shrubs This passion and devotion to the this flower, closely linked to the Virgin Mary, has led to its use as a decorative element for the two burnished steel tanks that contain the client's precious roses. The base of the tanks has an integrated lighting system set in a decorative pattern, each element of this pattern consisting of 50 circular perforations referencing a recurring number in the rosary.
07 B/W mondrian_Amsterdam NEDERLAND
This roof garden is the final part of a restructuring project carried out by the VENS studio. As black and white are the colours that were used for the partitions that define the internal spaces, the same colour scheme was offered to the customer for an arrangement of steel tanks that, with their broken lines creating functionality and providing continuity with the existing furnishings, are inspired by some of Mondrian's works. The design of these specially made tanks is based on the different pattern variations of the flooring, faithfully respecting their rhythm.

I am a native Italian translator based in England since 1991, with a language-related graduate degree from the University of Oxford/Balliol College (DPhil in Oriental Studies in modern and ancient Indian languages, including Bengali, Pali and Sanskrit), an undergraduate degree in Political Science from The University of Milan involving translation work (from English and Pali into Italian) and a Secondary School diploma in Classics (Ancient Greek and Latin). I currently work-full time as a freelance translator (English <--> Italian) with some ten years experience.
I have experience of translation and proofreading work for individual customers and companies in many different fields, including: business & finance, economics, marketing, human resources, maritime, charity & not for profit, pharmaceutical, medical, engineering, landscape architecture, history, biography, tourism, religion.
I was the Lecturer of Italian Language and Culture at the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh) for the academic year 1993/94, teaching over one hundred students at different levels. I am also a qualified teacher of English as a foreign language (University of Cambridge CELTA) and for a period of three years I taught this subject full-time at a British Council recognised school based in England. I have experience of teaching this subject at all levels and I specialise in IELTS teaching.
I am a published writer and translator in English and Italian in a number of subjects, including finance (especially hedge funds), business, advertising, history, archaeology and religion.
My interest in languages and foreign cultures has inspired me to spend periods of several years in various countries (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Bangladesh, India, The Maldives) and I currently study Japanese at SOAS as part-time student.
I am a keen sailor and I have spent five years sailing alone with my husband from England to South America and back on a 38ft yacht.
