Bio
I'm an ex-pat British citizen living in Germany since May 1987.

Whilst I was in the U.K. I worked in the family business of materials recycling and learned a considerable amount about the engineering (especially hydraulic) involved in that industry.

I started doing German to English translations in 1989 working for Electrolux (in this special case it was Autoliv) and have been doing this work on and off ever since.

When I was in the Philippines I was working as a translator for three German companies who had formed a sort of loose joint venture/consortium with the intention of installing a really high-tech landfill site. My experience in general and hydraulic engineering was very helpful at this time, as were my studies of general, company and contract law that were all part of my training to become a chartered accountant. In fact, because of my legal background I was able to proofread the original German contracts and save considerable amounts of money for my client by pointing out basic errors in the terminology.

I have recently translated a book about near-death experiences from German into English and am still in contact with the author who is considering writing another book along the same lines, which I would also translate for him.

My recent teaching experiences have included work for the Pharmaakademie teaching English to CRA (clinical research associate) students and staff at orthopaedic centres in Hamburg.
