Bio

Mônica
Angela Mazzoni ([email protected])

Bachelor in
Administration with a Foreign Trade specialization.

Earned a Diploma in Translation in 1993 from the Chartered Institute of
Linguists, based in London, England.

Was awarded
a prize by the Royal Engineering Society for one of the best translations in
science and technology.

Studied
Electronic Engineering for a year before immigrating to England with my family
in 1981.

Worked as
an administrative agent for the Brazilian Navy in London, England, between 1981
and 1993, when immigrated back to Brazil.

Once in
Brazil, worked for a large international mining company, a well-known North-American
environmental organization with offices throughout the world, and a railway
association.

My entire
working experience prior to being a freelance translator has involved translations in language pairs English-Brazilian Portuguese. I am very familiar
with many science and technology subjects, especially astronomy. I have been a volunteer translator of APOD, the Astronomy Picture of the Day.

I have been a translator since 1998. My work as a translator has given me the opportunity to work extensively with the Brazilian government and many of its ministries and agencies, in addition to a plethora of international agencies and numerous advertising agencies.

I live in Brasilia, Brazil. I am married with two
adult children and my private interests include science fiction, music, astronomy, crochet and
cinema.

I am member 657 of Mensa Brazil.
