Background and Profile: 

I
have been working as a translator for 16 years, both in-house at language
service companies and currently as a freelancer.

Since
2017, I have been running a Publishing House named Editora 14, where I have
been managing the translation, editing, and publishing efforts targeted at
bringing books originally published in English-speaking countries to Brazil.

As a technical
translator, I mainly provide revisions and translations from English into
Portuguese and back, mainly of Legal and Financial, OG and Marine, Academic,
Journalistic, and Humanities texts.

The
experience with the book industry has truly broadened my horizons as a
linguist, and opened up my eyes for the meaning of text revision, which is
something to be done cyclically to achieve the best final result.

Iterative revisions allow realizing the coherence of a
text, which is the product of the relationship between content and purpose.

An enthusiast of the book industry, more than a decade into
my career as a translator and editor, I gravitated towards the creation of
editorial strategies aimed at purchasing royalties, translating, and publishing
books in Brazil.

This helped me brush up on translation skills, understand
the importance of revisions and proofreading for a superior end product,
meanwhile delve into new linguistic and graphic processes.

Recently, I’m also specializing in other Portuguese and English
variants with success, as part of my work for translation companies overseas,
which have required a broader language approach, chiefly with European and
Mozambique Portuguese variants.
