I am a trained biologist turned translator specialising in the field of biomedical, scientific, and pharmaceutical translations.
Given my double Spanish-Canadian nationality, together with my bilingual upbringing and education, I am fully proficient in both English and Spanish, thus translating to and from both languages. I also boast a native command of Galician, validated by the CELGA 4 certificate of the Xunta de Galicia, after living and studying in this region of Spain since the age of 11 years.
Because of my long-standing inquisitive nature and my eagerness to know “how life works”, I originally trained as a biologist, completing a 5-year university degree in Biology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). These studies enabled me to gain valuable knowledge and experience in important scientific fields (Microbiology, Genetics, Physiology, Cytology and Histology, etc.) and to become acquainted with laboratory devices and protocols during my practical training. Over the past eight years I have continued to further my education in the field of biomedical translation in order to produce translations of the highest quality.
I now boast over eight years of experience translating and proofreading:
Medical reports (Oncology, Gynaecology, Radiology, etc.). I am currently the lead medical translator of reports from the Clínica Universidad de Navarra requiring translation into English.
Texts relating to clinical trials (clinical trial protocols, informed consent forms, patient information leaflets, letters of approval, etc.)
