I am a Norwegian woman living in Cork, Ireland, since 2001, but I travel back to Norway as often as possible - several times a year - and have maintained close links with my native country.

I trained as a radiographer in Oslo in the mid-nineties, followed by a postgraduate diploma in Medical Ultrasound in the University of Leeds some years later. The study of radiography includes subjects such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, physics and instrumentation. Postgraduate studies would include subjects such as research methodology and hospital/health care management as well as the clinical subjects.

Overall, I have more than 18 years of hospital experience in a variety of settings, from large trauma centres to smaller private hospitals. I also have experience from clinical trials, both from a hospital setting and also from working for a private company that runs clinical trials for the food/food supplement industry. I have a strong interest in science and technology in general, and I have studied a range of topics related to computers and mathematics with the Open University.

I translate part time, holding down a post as a Clinical Specialist Sonographer also. Since I made the move to translating professionally, I have translated a great variety of medical texts, clinical trial texts, IFUs, operation manuals, and texts of a more general nature, like promotions e.t.c.
I also act as SME reviewer for some agencies with regards to their medical texts.
