I am a half-American native Brazilian English into Portuguese and Portuguese into English translator and proofreader with over 14 years of experience. My main specialty is Law and my secondary specialties are Finance and IT.

Only a person who has fully experienced both languages firsthand is able to successfully convey, with complete cultural authenticity and linguistic integrity, the meaning of what is being said. Having grown up in an English-speaking household in Brazil where I was simultaneously alphabetized in both languages and later lived with my family for years in the United States, I am thoroughly familiar with the subtleties and intricacies of both languages. 

Translation is in my blood! Following my mother's footsteps and my grandmother's before hers, I belong to a family of translators spanning three generations. This constant, close contact with translation throughout my life has deeply ingrained both love and boundless admiration for this beautiful profession in my being. In well over a decade of professional experience as a full-time freelance translator, I have worked with countless agencies and thousands of private clients, translating millions of words.

Having been a professional in the industry since before I was of age, I truly understand the craft and all of its nuances. As much an art as an exact science, translating requires intimate familiarity with both source and target languages and an unparalleled ability to select the exact words that transmit the original idea within the given context while preserving the intended tone and style as well as considering the target audience and its cultural idiosyncrasies.

I am enormously dedicated and passionate about my work and am wholly committed to providing translations of the highest possible quality. I follow a strict, proven QA process using specialized quality management software that guarantees, to the very limits of what is humanly possible, a translation that is free of errors, consistent and compliant with all requirements set forth for individual translators in international standards of quality such as the EN 15038 and ISO 17100.

Strict confidentiality is maintained during every stage of the process and no subcontractor or third-party service is ever used except upon your explicit instruction. Backups are regularly created and stored in multiple devices to ensure that no time will have been wasted in the event of unforeseen technical problems.

Although Law is my main specialty and Finance and IT are my secondary ones, at this point in my career there are precious few subjects with which I have not successfully worked in the past. My preferred CAT Tool is SDL Trados Studio 2017 though I have also worked with many others.
