Source text - English EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
All equipment must undergo a visual and hands-on inspection prior to each use. This must be done every time equipment is used. Each piece, including the emergency takedown equipment, should be carefully inspected by sight and feel as follows:
Climb Harnesses - Check for snags, cuts or tears in the harness webbing. All stitches must be intact, especially at major stress points. Check all buckles for cracks, metal burrs, and/or corrosion. Be sure that there are no stains and/or foreign substances on the harness.
Belay Ropes - All life support ropes need to be carefully inspected before each use for any sign of wear and/or fatigue. Look for snags, cuts, breaks, and extreme abrasion damage. Also look and feel for flat spots in the rope. If these cannot be worked out of the rope, the continuity of the core is likely damaged and the rope should not be used. The damaged spot should be marked and the rope set aside. Also look and feel for stains or dirt spots. Make certain that all knots are tied correctly and checked by a second facilitator.
Helmets - Check the lining, chinstrap and buckle to make sure they are intact and working. Check for cracks, holes and other signs of damage to the interior or exterior hard surfaces of the helmet.
Belay Devices, Carabineers, and Rapid Links-Check all metal hardware for cracks, breaks, burrs and excessive amounts of corrosion. Also make sure that all moving parts operate freely and properly and that hinge pins are seated properly.
Life Support Lanyards- This includes any lanyards that are used for life support during transfers while on the tower. Insure that there are no abrasions such as tears or cuts in the ropes and that the splicing has minimum of 5 tucks.

Source text - English THIS WHOLE strange adventure got its start late one night
when I was sitting in my study reading Life magazine, and turned a page.
At first glance, it seemed that there was nothing on the page to interest me. It carried a pen drawing of a trial taking place in New York City, 350 miles away. I’d never been to New York, and I never wanted to go, except perhaps to see the Statue of Liberty.
I started to flip the page over. But as I did, my attention was
caught by the eyes of one of the figures in the drawing. A boy. One of seven boys on trial for murder. The artist had caught such a look of bewilderment and hatred and despair in his features that I opened the magazine wide again to get a closer look. And as I did, I began to cry.
“What’s the matter with me!” I said aloud, impatiently brushing away a tear. I looked at the picture more carefully. The boys were all teen-agers. They were members of a gang called the Dragons. Beneath their picture was the story of how they had gone into Highbridge Park in New York and brutally attacked and killed a fifteen-year-old polio victim named Michael Farmer.
The seven boys stabbed Michael in the back seven times with
their knives, then beat him over the head with garrison belts.
They went away wiping blood through their hair, saying, “We
messed him good.”
The story revolted me. It turned my stomach. In our little
mountain town such things seemed mercifully unbelievable.
That’s why I was dumbfounded by a thought that sprang suddenly into my head full-blown, as though it had come into me from somewhere else.

Article III Within the terms of this agreement, no party shall allow the textual and pictorial material in this book to be used by a third party, without prior consent by both agreeing parties.
Article IV The content of the English and Chinese manuscripts, specific editing content along with the work timetable should be decided through consultation between both parties. The First Party is responsible for editing the Chinese part of the image captions as well as the topic-pertinent texts, whereas the Second Party is responsible for editing the English part of image captions as well as the topic-pertinent texts. The Second Party is allowed to add on, abridge and adapt the manuscript as long as it does not change the original meaning.
