Bio
I graduated from UFES (Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo) in
Brazil on April 1992 in Languages & Literature “Letras” with major
in English and minor in Spanish.
I taught English at a public school( Escola Técnica Federal) and a private English language school (CCAA- Centro de Cultura Anglo Americana) in Brazil.
I
moved to the U.S. in 1992 where I lived up to December 2009.
I lived in the US (California & Arizona) for 20 plus years, and
while there I performed various jobs in the education, financial and
Information Technology (IT)
fields.
I taught Spanish as well as Portuguese to English speakers. I also
developed a customized curriculum to teach Portuguese to Spanish native
speakers and those who spoke limited English in Phoenix, Arizona. After
that, I
started working for American Express, a major fortune 500 company in the
credit card business where I stayed until 2009. I worked in their
Financial and IT
Departments as Business Analyst and Project Manager. While there I also
worked on several occasions as Spanish and
Portuguese translator/Interpreter since we did business with all Latin
American countries.
Since I have a great passion
for languages, although being busy with the corporate world
responsibilities, I´d always make sure to engage in some
language-related activities. So, I took a six-month course on
‘Translating & Interpreting for
the Medical Field’ as well as full week seminars given by the ATA
(American Translators Association) on English-Portuguese and
English-Spanish translation and interpretation themes.
I have recently worked on three projects related to e-commerce for
one of the biggest Chinese e-commerce companies, and I was given the
feedback that the quality of my job is undeniable.
I was
recognized by Google Translation Community on December 2017 for being
among the top 5% contributors in Portuguese and English: 432 Total
Contributions; 1352 Validation. I have been accepted as part of the
volunteer team for TWB (Translation Without Borders), and I am looking
forward to contributing with some volunteer projects around the world as
I believe I have some responsibility to give back to humanity.
