(colloquial South African greeting for Hi there, Yes, Hallo….)
Having been born to Dutch parents in South Africa, I grew up with three home languages and later also acquired German during my 15 year residence in that country. My father was of the opinion that every language you speak equals a University Degree and he demanded excellence. This standpoint has proven itself during my work as a Tourist Guide for 27 years, all over Central/Eastern Europe, East Africa, Namibia and South Africa, working mainly with Dutch and German clients as well as Asians.
It was therefore a natural sideways career move to start using my language skills as an interpreter and translator.
Previous work entailed interpretation/translation for the tourists during tours, at international conferences, court of law and translations of tourism related work material e.g. city guides, descriptions for museums, historical, guide book, training guides and marketing material.
