Profile:
Spanish to English translator. Native speaker of English.
I translate articles weekly on Latin American politics and social issues for the online newspaper "The Prisma" https://theprisma.co.uk/ Topics have included Diego Maradona, national elections, politics and - my favourites - articles on the indigenous peoples of the Amazon.
Other recent assignments include translating and proofreading (Spanish and French into English) for NGOs and charities through the Per Mondo project and Translators Without Borders. Texts have included a museum guide, an ecological tourism website, articles for civil society groups in Latin America and research papers on the legalisation of cannabis and the UN goal to eradicate poverty. I have also translated for a Spanish bank and an industrial materials company.
19 years working with market data in project, programme and team management roles for a global financial markets company and 5 years in public sector change management give me a fantastic insight into the business world and real-world experience of languages. I hold the Investment Operations Certificate along with several project, programme and portfolio management qualifications.
I have spent extensive time in Spain since the early 1990s and am married to a Spaniard. My interests include the politics and history of Spain as well as South America and I am an avid reader of books on these topics. I am also a daily reader of general and financial newspapers in English, Spanish and French.
