لشعوبه الواحد تلو الآخر من اجل اسقاط الطغيان ورفع راية الحرية. وهذا ما يثابر الشعب السوري عليه يومياً بشكل يثير الاعجاب الشديد ليتحوّل ملحمة نادرة المثال في التاريخ الحديث لهذه المنطقة.
لقد كان من حسن طالع النبي ابرهيم ان الله تدخّل في الوقت المناسب لانقاذ ابنه اسماعيل، كما يؤمن المسلمون او اسحق كما تقول التوراة. فقد اكتفى الله بصدق ايمان ابرهيم في امتحان الاستعداد للتضحية بولده، فأمره بأن "لا تمد يدك الى الغلام" كما جاء في التوراة "(…) وفديناه بذبح عظيم" مثلما ورد في القرآن.
في المقابل، كان على الشعوب العربية التي فازت في سباق الربيع او التي تنشد الفوز به، كما في سوريا، ان تنفذ التضحية كاملة. فالديكتاتور مؤمن أشد الايمان بسلطته التي تحضّه على التضحية بآخر فرد من شعبه للحفاظ عليها.
Whatever profound meaning one may attach to the Adha Eid (Muslim “feast of sacrifice”) this year, surely it lies in the Arab peoples’ consecutive races towards freedom, with their awe inspiring uprising against tyranny. No less admirable a struggle is that of the Syrian people; on a daily basis, the steadfast Syrians’ perseverance writes an epic narrative in the modern history of the region.
In Quranic scripture, the timely intervention of God spared the Prophet Ibrahim from sacrificing his son Ismail (Isaak in the Torah). Satisfied with the sincerity of Ibrahim’s faith in this ultimate test of sacrifice, God commanded Ibrahim to “lay not thy hand upon the lad,” as mentioned in the Torah, and “...We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,” as written in the Quran.
In today’s events, for those aspiring for freedom in the Arab Spring, the sacrifice was to be fully made, as in the case of the Syrians. The dictator in his uncontested authority holds firmly to the belief that in order to preserve his people, he must sacrifice every last drop of their blood.
