I'm American, living in Paris for about 11 years. I grew up in the the western suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). I received my BA from Haverford College a small Liberal Arts Quaker school in suburban Philadelphia, not far from my home. My major course of study was the "History of Religion". I also did "Pre-medical" studies and significant studies in "Art History" and some Fine Arts.
Post graduating from Haverford College, I studied at Hahnemann University School of Allied Health Professions, in Philadelphia, receiving a degree in Respiratory Therapy and some time later I did 2 years of study at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medecin, also in Philadelphia, PA. I lived in Philadelphia for about 6 years and New York City, NY for 12. Throughout this time I worked for 18years in various hospitals, in medical intensive care. Similarly, durring and post university studies, I also actively engaged in youth tutoring and English language instruction.
In 2001 I made the big move to Paris, France, simply to try something new and different. In Paris, till the present, I have about 8 years experience in English language instruction and support, and amplification and reinforcement of skills, working with children, youth and adults (involved in Bussiness, Art History, High School and University English Language Instruction, Medical Care). In addition, I prepare students for entrance into and retention in European classes and sections emphasising English language use, in their schools, aswell as exam preparation for the PET, FCE, TOEIC and TOEFL. I also offer translation services and consultation and guidance in preparing resumes, cover letters, textes, speeches, interviews, talks, and presentations in English. Thanks to my very varied studies, and life experience, I have rather broad knowledge of many areas and disciplines which has immensely aided me in my ability to bring the English language to life in a comprehensible and manageable way to both the non-native speaker and native speaker alike. |
