Object: Testimony of Mr. F--- K---
Former student at the UNIKIN
My name is F--- K---, born the 25th of March, 1980 in Kinshasa, of Congolese nationality and my identification number is #######. I am married to Mrs. I--- and we have four children. I am acting as a witness in favor of Mr. M---. I completed my higher education at the University of Kinshasa from 2000 to 2005 in the Department of Petroleum and Geology; at present I am a petroleum engineer at CHEVRON DRC. Mr. M--- and I studied together at the University of Kinshasa from first year through graduation. I was perfectly familiar with him for his fight that he had led on the campus to raise the students’ awareness to reject the corruption that the government set up for the purchase of student consciousness to be part of the platform of President K---. He was a member of the League against corruption and also president of the students in the account of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress, of which I was also a member, and brought the demands of the students. Despite the multiple bans and Superintendent K---’s threats to expel Mr. M--- for having incited the students into an uprising and for the organization of political meetings within the university, he remained in his struggle to raise awareness. After his studies, my colleague M--- became a great opinion leader within the Union for Democracy and Social Progress. I deplored everything that happened to him—the killing of his brother, his wife, and his son by the units of the presidential guard and his research in the Congolese territory finally being stopped.
I ask that you please assure his protection, for the powers that be seek his death.

Years of experience: 15. Registered at ProZ.com: Aug 2011.
My promise to you is that I will always provide high-quality translations in a professional and timely manner. I can guarantee an unparalleled level of service and support. My extensive education in the art of translation, combined with my great passion for my work leads me to fully invest myself in every project I work on. I would be honored to be given the opportunity to use my translation abilities to help you accomplish your global communication goals.
LANGUAGES
I primarily translate French to English because I believe in the importance of translating into the native language. I will, however, negotiate with clients for English-to-French translations on an individual basis.
EDUCATION
I studied translation extensively in my undergraduate career, despite the fact that no specific academic track was offered. For one of my two majors, my primary specialization was translation. I took multiple classes in both practical translation and the theory of translation. My honors thesis, which received the award of High Honors, was a lengthy translation of century-old French tales, accompanied by an extended introduction discussing the various practical and theoretical issues encountered throughout the process. I am now pursuing a M.A. in Translation Studies at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst to deepen my experience and knowledge of the art and trade of translation.
EXPERIENCE
In addition to my honor’s thesis, I have also published one translated short story in the first issue of the University of Michigan’s Canon Translation Review. I also worked as a volunteer translator of legal documents for seekers of political asylum at the Freedom House of Detroit throughout my senior year at the University of Michigan. Since graduation, I have been working as a freelance translator, primarily contracted through Michigan-based translation agencies.
